Results and Discussion

This section presents the results and discussion of Paulister, a web-based

planner developed to address the problem of poor time management among students,

which often leads to missed deadlines, incomplete tasks, and imbalanced academic and

personal schedules. The study employed a descriptive developmental research design,

with findings structured according to the ADDIE phases—Analysis, Design,

Development, and Validation—as an instructional design framework. The product was

evaluated by selected expert validators from St. Paul School of San Antonio, Nueva

Ecija Inc. These validators included an ICT professional educator from the institution,

who tested the web-based planner and assessed its features against predefined criteria.

Data gathered from the evaluations were analyzed using weighted mean to determine

the effectiveness and acceptability of the developed web-based planner.

Analysis on time management skills of students

Actual observation and review of previous related studies revealed that many

students experience stress, pressure, and overwhelm due to the multiple responsibilities

they handle daily. This often results in poor time management, leading to delayed task

completion and missed submission deadlines. Without an organized schedule and

sufficient self-discipline, students struggle to balance their personal responsibilities

with schoolwork. Their time management skills are particularly challenged when

juggling multiple assignments that require timely submission.

Poor time management among students is primarily driven by constant

procrastination, frequent distractions, and overloaded schedules. This issue negatively

affects overall academic performance and undermines the quality of the learning

experience, making it harder for students to engage effectively with their schoolwork.

While previous studies have developed time management tools, and commercial

options such as online checklists like Cheqmark and Marq, as well as other digital

notepads, these tools lack comprehensive features that address students’ specific needs.

None fully integrate the functionality required to help learners manage their time

efficiently and support the development of strong time management skills.

This condition in students’ learning experience highlights the critical need to

address time management through the development of a web-based study planner—

Paulister—that builds on ideas from existing products while combining enhanced

functionality and efficiency to promote disciplined and effective time management

among students.

Design of web-based planner “Paulister’ to improve students’ time management

The Paulister, a web-based planner, was the proposed output that aimed to

enhance the time management skills of students. The design of the planner utilized the

modified ADDIE model in systematizing the process of creating the digital tool. The

planner incorporated core features of effective time management, including schedule

organization, task prioritization, reminders, and progress tracking, based on research by

Ayodele and Tella (2018) and other relevant studies. These features were adapted from

existing digital planning principles and further modified by adding interactive elements

such as goal setting, routine building, and customizable schedules to cater to the specific

needs of students, especially in the context of academic and extracurricular balancing.

The design of the web-based planner aims to develop students' ability to organize

their schedules efficiently, to allocate time for various academic and personal activities,

and to reduce stress caused by disorganized routines. The planner’s primary purpose is to

assist students in creating structured daily, weekly, and monthly plans, enabling them to

manage deadlines, avoid procrastination, and develop healthy study habits. In simpler

terms, the concept behind the planner is to support learners’ difficulty in managing their

time effectively.

As the modern educational environment increasingly relies on digital tools,

Paulister offers a flexible, accessible, and user-friendly solution that can be used across

various devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. According to Khan Academy

(2023), organized digital learning plans promote better concentration and habit formation

by providing consistent routines. Good time management is essential for academic

success because it helps students focus on priorities, meet deadlines, and minimize stress,

which can negatively impact cognitive functions, motivation, and overall academic

performance. Paulister, with its personalized and AI-enhanced features, aims to foster a

sense of discipline and self-regulation among students, making it easier to develop and

maintain effective routines.

Furthermore, the planner includes activities and check-ins designed to reinforce

time management strategies. These activities include setting daily goals, creating to-do

lists, and reflecting on completed tasks, which serve as ongoing checks for learners to

practice and internalize effective planning habits. The material was specifically designed

to support in-person and remote learning environments for students across different

educational settings. Paulister the web-based planner comprises the following parts and

features:
