i
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Deep sense of gratude to my supervisor Mukarram Ali Khan

(SOLID CAD SOLUTIONS) without his excellent guidance, consistent
encouragement and constant supervision; my bachelor’s degree
would not have been possible. I have learned so much about
conducng internship in engineering and life in general. I would like to
thank him for being my supervisor here at Bansal Instute of
Engineering and Technology, Lucknow.

I am grateful to Mr. Shiv Darshan (Head of Department), Mr. Nikhil

Bajpai & all faculty member and staff of Department of Mechanical

Engineering, B.I.E.T Lucknow for their generous support in various

ways for the compleon of internship report.

I would like to thank my friends and classmates for all the

thoughul and movang discussions we had, which encouraged

me to think beyond the observable.

Chapter:1
INTRODUCTION OF DESIGN
Design Process is a way to think and design to solve
problems. It is a process that can be replicated and used for
a variety of different problems for small scale products to
complex services. The process has several stages and steps,
and each on them can be methodized and be done regularly.
In a few words, it is a combinaon of analycal accuracy,
synthesis methods & tools, and is based around the "building
up" of ideas.
1.1 Design process
Step 1: In this Step, students formulate what they think
about the problem
Step 2: The next step in the engineering design process is to
ask quesons about the problem
Step 3: Imagine
Step 4: Plan
Step 5: Prototype
Step 6: Test

step 7: Improve...

CHAPTER:2
INTRODUCTION OF SOLIDWORKS

2.1 SOLIDWORKS
SOLIDWORKS, a solid modelling computer-aided
design and computer-aided engineering program, is
one of the most popular soware opons for
mechatronics engineers.

SOLIDWORKS was developed by met graduate Jon

HirschCk and was bought by Dassault Systems in
1997. The soware now encompasses a number of
programs that can be used for both 2D and 3D design.

SOLIDWORKS is used to develop mechatronics systems

from beginning to end. At the inial stage, the soware
is used for planning, visual ideaon, modelling,
feasibility assessment, prototyping, and project
management. The soware is then used for design and
building of mechanical, electrical, and soware
elements. Finally, the soware can be used for
management, including device management, analycs,
data automaon, and cloud services.

2
The SOLIDWORKS soware soluons are used by
mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers to
form a connected design. The suite of programs is
aimed at keeping all engineers in communicaon and
able to respond to design needs or changes.

2.2 LIST OF COMMAND USED IN SOLIDWORKS

Sketch Commands:
Line: To draw straight lines (used for basic shapes and
outlines).
Circle: To create circular profiles for parts like holes or
round secons.
Arc: To create arcs for rounded corners or curved
secons.
Rectangle: To draw a rectangle if the tool head has a
rectangular cross secon.
Spline: For free-form curves, oen used in more
complex profiles.
Polygon: To draw a polygonal profile if needed (useful
for certain tool heads with mulple flat faces).
Centreline: Used for defining symmetry or reference
for mirroring features.
Offset Enes: To create parallel lines or curves at a
specific distance, oen used for creang walls or faces.
Smart Dimension: To add precise measurements to
the sketch (dimensions for length, width, angle, radius,
etc.) •
3
Enes: To control the placement of dimensions, such
as linear or angular dimensions.

Features:
Extruded Boss/Base: To create 3D solid bodies by
extruding the 2D sketches into a 3D shape.
Revolve Boss/Base: For creang parts with rotaonal
symmetry, like cylindrical tool heads.
Extruded Cut: Used to create holes or cutouts in a solid
part.
Fillet: Adds a curved edge to the part (inner or outer).
Chamfer: Used to create angled edges.
Hole Wizard: For adding holes with specific standards (e.g.,
counterbore, countersink).
Shell: To hollow out a solid body, which can be useful for creang
tool head cavies.
Assembly Commands:
Mate: To posion and constrain parts in an assembly (if the
tool head is part of a larger assembly).
Other Commands for Detailing:
Mirror Enes: To create symmetric parts or features across
a central axis.
Linear Paern: To create a repeang feature in a linear
direcon, oen used for holes or slots in the tool head.
Circular Paern For repeang features in a circular
arrangement.
Fillet/Chamfer. For adding rounded or angled edges to improve
funconality or aesthecs.
4
Lo: To create a smooth transion between different profiles.

Sweep: To create parts that follow a specific path or guide

curve.

Convert Enes: Used to create reference geometry by

projecng edges or faces onto a new sketch.
Project Curve: To project a curve onto a surface, which might
be useful for complex geometries.

2.3. SOLIDWORKS APPLICATION

The SolidWorks have wide range of applicaons in

industries such as Aerospace, Défense, Automove,
Transportaon, Consumer products, Electronics, Process
Plant, Energy conservaon, Construcon, Heavy
equipment, Machinery, Medical tools, Mold & Tools
design, Product design and other engineering services. It
helps to design various products and services, tesng
them in very cost-effecve way like Model and prototype
tesng.

CONCLUSION

The report covered the preview the of our learning and study
material. The use of SolidWorks has many advantages It can
help to reduce the me and it take to produce the drawing
needed in the work environment

SolidWorks soware is the most amazing range of

mechanical computer added design tool. let is now
considered to be the best according to industry standards.
