Karanpal had a rectangular plot of land of dimensions x mts × y mts. He made two
rectangular flower beds at two corners of dimensions 8 mts × z mts and 5 mts ×
a mts. He also made a semicircular flower bed of diameter 14 mts as shown. In rest
of the plot he sowed sugarcane.

Answer the following questions:

a. Find the perimeter of the whole plot?

b. What is the total area of the two rectangular flower beds?

c. Find the perimeter of the two rectangular flower beds?

d. If x=30 m and y=20 m, find the area of the whole plot.

e. If z = 6 m and a = 4 m, find the total area of all rectangular flower beds.

23. What should be subtracted from the sum of 2𝑥 – 3xy + 7𝑦 + 3 and 7𝑥 +


4xy - 𝑦 + 3 to get 4𝑥 + 7 – 5 𝑦 + 8xy ?

24. Solve the following

a) 2 (x+4) – 3 (x-3) = -2

b) Two complementary angles differ by 18 degree. Find the angles?

c) Ankur’s father is 35 years older than Ankur. After 10 years, he will be twice the
age of his son. Find their present ages.

25. In a village A 650 out of 2400 people are literate. In village B, 780 out of 3570
people are literate. Which village has a higher percentage of literacy?
