Distribution
Distribution refers to the process that the media product gets to the target audience.
There are 3 main distribution methods in the UK, they are: Retail, Subscription, and
Digital download.
Distribution company for Mojo magazine:
The Frontline Group
The frontline group’s origins are ‘Frontline AB’, which was founded in 1985. They were
listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange from 1989-1997. In May 1997, Frontline AB was
relocated from Sweden to Bermuda, and they were listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
The following year, Frontline AB was merged with London & Overseas Freighters.
Frontline Group is an innovator in supply chain services for magazines, books, and
home entertainment. They offer many services including: Category Solutions,
Fulfilment, Promotions, Custom Solutions, Audience Engagement, and Global Reach.
They are a crucial link between publishers (like Bauer Media and Immediate Media) and
retailers, (such as supermarkets and newsagents) to get magazines onto shelves and
into the readers’ hands. They do this by using data, marketing, and logistics to maximise
their sales.

Getting the magazine
Retail:
Retail distribution is when you buy a product in a shop such as: supermarkets,
newsagents, petrol stations, and TJ Jones. This is useful and beneficial for the target
audience because you are able to get a preview of the magazine before purchasing it to
see if it is suitable for you, this is to avoid wasting your money. It is also easy to access
as you can easily pick it up when you are doing your weekly shopping instead of having
to go out of your way to buy it. This way would cost £5.85 as there would not be any
added extras for the postage.
Subscription:
Subscription distribution is a pre-paid agreement where you get a delivery in the post
or digitally. You can access this through the Great Magazines website as either a
subscription or a one - off
payment. At the moment
there are offers for 6 issues
for £19.99 and £75.99 as a one
- off payment for a year, with
this you get 12 issues. There
are multiple advantages of
using the subscription form
of distribution, one being
that there is no chance of
being sold out and therefore
you are guaranteed a copy.
Another advantage is that
because it is a subscription
you can renew it at any time.
You could also give a mojo
subscription to someone as a
gift. Using a subscription gives you discounts and deals as you can see above. Lastly, it is
convenient for the consumer as you don't need to go out to purchase the magazine and
risk not getting a copy. Instead you can buy it then and there being guaranteed a copy.

Digital download:
Digital download distribution is an electronic copy of the magazine which you can
purchase either through a subscription of an individual purchase. This can also be
bought from the Great Magazines website. It is beneficial to the target audience as you
are always guaranteed a copy in contrast to retail distribution where it is not definite
that you will get a copy. There is also no risk of losing or damaging the magazine as you
access it digitally. There is also a one - off year payment for £56.99 or instead, there is a
monthly payment of £3.99.
