UNDERSTANDING ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

In the pursuit of preparing students of engineering into a capable engineering workforce, it

is important to build a strong foundation of technical knowledge while also equipping them
with skills on how to be successful and effective in an organization – whether as employees
or employers.

A work place is a significant part of our daily lives. Most adults spend at least 30 percent of
their lives engaged in work or work-related activities.

Human behaviour in any context, is complex, especially so within organizations. An

individual’s actions at work are influenced by a combination of personal, group and
organisational factors. Understanding how individuals and groups behave at work place can
lead to greater effectiveness and enhance the overall quality of work life.

This course is proposed as an attempt to make students aware of these organisational /

work place dynamics which could enable them to make informed and conscious decisions in
their future careers and workplace environments.
