NETLAB+ Simple Usage Guide
The information contained in this document will act as a simple usage guide for using Purdue
University Northwest (PNW)’s implementation of Network Development Group (NDG)’s
NETLAB+ environment.

Login
Username:
Your username will be the first part of your email address before the @ symbol.
Example: test
(if email is test@[Link] or test@[Link])
Password:
Your password will be: netlab123
When you first login to your account, you will be asked to change your password.
NETLAB+ Homepage
Once you complete your initial account setup, you will be brought to the NETLAB+ homepage.
+New Lab Reservation – This will allow you to create a new reservation a Lab in your
Available Classes
The additional options in the top right are as follows:
Help – Links to documentation and guides
Schedule – Schedule a Lab for Yourself or Team (if applicable) (Same options are available
under +New Lab Reservation)
View – Completed Labs, Configuration Files, Configuration History
Your Account – Settings (Change password, email, or time settings here) and Logout
Creating a Reservation
Click +New Lab Reservation -> Schedule Lab for Myself
Or click Schedule -> Schedule Lab for Myself
Choosing a Class and Setting up a Lab
If you are enrolled in one or more classes in NETLAB+, you will have the option to choose a
class.
After choosing a class, you will choose which lab you wish to do.
Once a lab is chosen, you will choose a POD and a time for that lab. (Click right below the red
line to schedule a lab right away)
Once you pick at time, adjust the End Time for the reservation, if necessary. You will be allowed
to extend your labs to a certain maximum limit (Set by the Leader/Instructor).
You can enter the lab by click the green Enter Lab button under Lab Reservations on the
NETLAB+ homepage. (If you accidentally close your Web Browser or leave the page, you will
be brought back here to re-enter the lab. Assuming your reservation has not ended)
Inside a Lab Reservation
Once inside the Lab, you will be brought to a screen that resembles the screenshot below (will
change depending on the content of the lab)
Topology will show you the topology of the Lab environment (changes depending on lab
content)
To enter a Virtual Machine, either click on the picture, or click the name of the machine.
Content – Contains the Lab document – Clicking the arrow next to content will allow you to
open the lab document in a new window
Status – Will show the current status of the Virtual Machines within the lab environment
Virtual Machines – Clicking on these tabs (number of tabs depends on the lab content) will
allow you to view the virtual machine
Clicking the arrow by the VM name will provide you with more options
Ending a Reservation
When you are finished with the lab, click the arrow at the top-right near Reservation.
Click the End Reservation Now button to end then lab. Alternatively, you can click Change
Exercise to switch to another lab. This may not always be enabled by the Instructor/Leader. Also
be aware that this will not increase the maximum allotted time for the reservation. It is better to
create a new reservation, if you are not aware of the length of the other labs.
