1. Conduct a drill on identifying numbers from 101-1 000 with the use of number cards.

Presentation 1. Show an illustration of 130 objects. Let them count the objects one by one.

2. Lead them in counting the objects by tens by asking:
a. How are the objects grouped? (They are grouped into 10s.)
b. How many objects are there in all? (130)
c. What counting strategy is used? (counting by 10)

3. Introduce the concept of counting the objects by 10s, 50s or 100s in order to represent
the number.

4. Say: I have here 5 bundles of 100 popsicle sticks. Then asks:


a. How many bundles do I have? (5)
b. How many popsicle sticks are there in each bundle? (100)
c. How many popsicle sticks do I have in all? (500)
d. What concept of counting is used? (counting by 100s)

5. Emphasize the point that there are many ways to count and represent things and still
come up with the same answer.

6. Group them into 5 teams. Provide an activity sheet to each group to be accomplished
within 5 minutes. Let them count and write the correct number of objects. Give them 3
exercises only.

7. Posting of their answers. The group with the most number of correct answers wins.

8. Ask the following:


a. Were you able to identify the correct number of objects?
b. How did you identify the number that fits the illustration presented?
c. How did each one of you work on the activity?
d. Were you accurate in counting objects and illustrations?

1. Let them answer Buluhaton 1 in the Learner’s Material p. 2-5. Assign 2 numbers for each
row.
