23. The floor of an auditorium is to be paved completely with square tiles. The
length and breadth of the floor are 112 feet and 72 feet respectively. Find
the maximum side length of the square tiles which can be used to exactly fit
the area of the floor. Also calculate the total number of tiles required for
flooring the auditorium.
24. A ( 5, 11 ), B ( x, y ), C ( 5, 3 ) and D ( 2, 7 ) are the vertices of a rhombus in
order. Find the coordinates of the point ‘B’ and the length of the diagonal

verify the relationship between the zeros and the coefficients

26. Prove that, “The lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle
are equal”.

divided by the y-axis. Also find the coordinates of the point of division.

32. A box consists of 100 shirts of which 88 are good, 8 have minor defects and 4
have major defects. Ramesh, a shopkeeper will buy only those shirts which
are good but ‘Kewal [Link] will not buy shirts with major defects.
A shirt is taken out of the box at random What is the probability that:
(i) Ramesh will buy the selected shirt? (ii) ‘Kewal will buy the selected shirt?
33. In the figure, the area of the sector OAYB is 462 cm 2 . Find the length of the
arc AYB if AOB = 120°.

34. Solve the given pair of linear equations by graphical method :

35. Prove that, “If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect
the other two sides in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the
same ratio”.

Prove that, “If in two triangles, sides of one triangle are proportional to ( i.e.,
in the same ratio of ) the sides of the other triangle, then their corresponding
angles are equal and hence the two triangles are similar”.
36. Five integers are in arithmetic progression. The difference obtained on subtracting
the square of the first term from the square of the fifth term is 192 and the sum of
the 2𝑛𝑑 and 4𝑡ℎ term is 16. Find the five terms of the progression

The sum of the first 6 terms of an arithmetic progression is 42. If the ratio of the
10𝑡ℎ term to the 30𝑡ℎ term of the progression is 1:3, then find the 13𝑡ℎ term of the
progression.

37. A tower and a building are standing vertically on a level ground. The angles
of elevation of the top of the tower from a point on the same ground and
from the top of the building are found to be 30° and 45° respectively as
shown in the figure. If the distance of the point from the foot of the tower is
40 3 m and height of the building is 15 m, then find the distance between
the foot of the tower and building and also the distance between the top of
the tower and the top of the building.
VI. Answer the following question : 1×5=5
38. A water container is made by joining a cylinder and hemisphere of equal
radii. The curved surface area of the hemisphere is 2772 cm 2 . The height of
the cylinder is 140 cm and a water level indicator (I) is fixed at a height of
20 cm below the top of the cylinder as shown in the figure. Water can be
stored in the cylinder up to the level of the indicator. Find the maximum
amount of water that can be stored in the container and also find the
amount of air stored in the remaining portion of the container.
