Argument Against the Assertion (Persuasion is appropriate):
Technical writing is primarily based on facts, evidence, and logical explanations.
However, persuasion still plays an important role. Engineers and technical
professionals often need to convince readers about the importance of a design, the
safety of a method, or the efficiency of a proposed solution. Even when facts are
presented, the writer must organize them logically, emphasize their significance, and
guide the reader toward a particular conclusion. This is a form of rational persuasion.
Therefore, persuasion in technical writing is appropriate as long as it is objective,
evidence-based, and not emotional. Persuasion helps the audience understand why
the facts matter and how they should be applied.

the number of female students started much lower at 2,000 in 1992 but increased

declined and then stabilized, while female enrollment showed continuous growth.

successful in their careers? Why?
Professionals who are not effective in preparing technical documents are less likely
to be successful in the long term. Engineering and technical fields depend heavily on
clear communication. Engineers must prepare reports, proposals, manuals, designs,
and documentation that other people rely on for decision-making. Poor
documentation can lead to misunderstandings, safety risks, project delays, and loss
of credibility.
Effective communication shows professionalism, competence, and accountability.
Therefore, the ability to write clear and accurate technical documents is essential for
career growth, teamwork, and job satisfaction.
