Hazel had always loved soccer. She played for Greenwood Middle School, and her coach, Ms.

Jean was always supportive. Whenever Hazel played she felt like she was flying in the air and
was always happy when playing. Hazel’s best friend, Amelia, was on the team too, but she was
always negative. Amelia kept telling Hazel that she wasn’t good enough to make it to the
championship. "You’ll never be as good as the other girls," Amelia would say. But Hazel didn’t
let Amelia’s words stop her. She worked harder, running extra laps and practicing her shots. Ms.
Jean, the coach, noticed Hazel’s dedication and was proud to see her giving it her all. But
eventually [Link] started to notice she was hurting herself by the amount of training, She tried
to guide Hazel,by telling her “ If you keep hurting yourself you will fall but if you believe you can
do it then you are sure to win”. but Hazel was so focused on proving Amelia wrong that she
pushed herself too far, ignoring Ms. Jean’s advice to take breaks and not overdo it.

As the season went on, Hazel kept pushing herself harder, trying to get better and prove she
could be the star player. She practiced every day after school, sometimes running drills for
hours. The rest of the team could see Hazel working so hard, but they were worried she was
doing too much. Hazel didn’t listen, though. On the day of the championship Hazel was on the
field, playing in the championship game, feeling the excitement of being so close to what she
wanted, but felt dizzer then normal. Ms. Jean kept giving Hazel tips, trying to make sure she
didn’t overexert herself, but Hazel’s confidence grew to the point where she ignored everything.
The more she played, the more determined she became to prove everyone wrong.

The game was tense, and Hazel was giving it her all. She wanted to be the best, but in the
middle of the game, she started to feel drained. Her body was telling her to stop, but she
ignored it and kept playing. At one point, Hazel decided to call a play that Ms. Jean had warned
against, and it led to the other team scoring a point. Ms. Jean was furious, telling Hazel “ You
have been acting like this the whole game, i'm the couch not you remember that”. After Ms.
Jean was done yelling she took Hazel out for the rest of the day. Hazel was hurt, but she didn’t
realize how serious things had gotten. Her head was spinning, and she felt sick to her stomach.
She couldn’t hold it in any longer.

Hazel collapsed right there on the field, fainting. The whole team was in shock, and Amelia, who
had been so harsh on Hazel all season, realized what she had done. Hazel had pushed herself
too hard, trying to prove she was better than everyone else, and it had cost her. Ms. Jean,
devastated by what had happened, promised herself that she would never let a player push
themselves so far again. Amelia lost her best friend, and Hazel ended up in the hospital. She
had ignored everything about knowing her limits, and now she had to pay the price for not
staying in her place.
