Answer: India has three levels of government because the country is very large
and diverse. One single government cannot manage everything properly. Having only a
central government may make laws uniform and reduce confusion. However, it would
become overburdened and small local problems like roads, schools, and hospitals might
be ignored. Therefore, three levels of government help in better and faster administration.

During the freedom struggle, Subhas Chandra Bose believed that India should not depend
only on peaceful protests but should also be ready to fight for independence. In 1942, he
reorganised the Indian National Army (INA), also known as the Azad Hind Fauj. The INA was
formed with Indian soldiers and civilians living in Southeast Asia. Bose encouraged people
with his powerful slogan, “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom.” He also formed the
Rani of Jhansi Regiment, a women’s group in the army, which showed that women were
equally brave and ready to serve the nation. Although the INA did not succeed in freeing India
directly, it created a strong feeling of patriotism among Indians. The bravery and sacrifices of
its soldiers inspired many people to join the freedom movement.
