Instructions:
• You are prohibited from using generative artificial intelligence (AI), e.g., ChatGPT, to
produce any materials or content related to this assignment.
• Please show your calculation steps clearly.
• This is an individual assignment.
• Submit in Canvas 1 standalone MS Excel file.

1. In [Link], determine the number of


a. Japanese cars.
b. cars having more than 400 displacement.
c. cars having less than 8 cylinders and weighing more than 3,500 kilograms.

2. Use [Link] to perform the following:


a. Compute the combined checking and savings account balance for each record in
the Base Data worksheet. Does it appear that customers with a longer
association with the bank have more assets?
b. Extract all records for new-car loans. How many individuals with new-car loans
are single, married, and divorced?
c. Extract all records for individuals employed less than 12 months. Can you draw
any conclusions about the credit risk associated with these individuals?
d. Determine which of the following groups have the highest credit risk:
i. All new car loans obtained for single females.
ii. All furniture loans obtained for single individuals who rent.
iii. All education loans obtained by unskilled workers.
iv. All used car loans obtained by individuals who are employed 12 months
or less.
v. All car loans (new or used) obtained by males who have been employed
at least 36 months.

3. The Excel file [Link] provides open, high, low, and close values for the S&P 500 index
over a period of time.

a. Enter any date (using the format month/day/year) within the range of the data in
any cell. Use a MATCH function in another cell to find the row in the database
that corresponds to this date.
b. Write an INDEX function in a cell that finds the closing value on this date using
your answer to part a.
c. Combine the MATCH and INDEX functions in Parts a and b into one function that
displays the closing value in a cell.

4. Consider [Link]. Construct PivotTables showing


a. the counts of region versus social media platform marketshare, and
b. the counts of tablet versus mobile device usage in Asia. What might you
conclude from this analysis?
