i) EARTHWORK EXCAVATION FOR FOUNDATION:

1. Foundation Requirements:
- Trenches shall be dug to exact width of foundation concrete
- Sides must be perfectly vertical
- If soil doesn't permit vertical sides, slope back or use timber shoring
- Excavated earth must be placed at least 1 meter from trench edge

2. Trench Finish:
- Bottom must be perfectly leveled both longitudinally and transversally
- Sides dressed vertically from bottom up
- Bed must be lightly watered and well rammed
- Any excess digging must be filled with concrete at contractor's expense
- Soft/defective spots must be removed and filled with concrete
- If rocks found, must be removed and bed leveled

3. Water Management:
- Any accumulated water must be bailed/pumped out without extra payment
- Prevent surface water from entering trenches
- Take necessary precautions against water seepage

4. Trench Filling:
- After concrete laying and masonry construction, fill remaining portion with earth
- Fill in 150mm layers, water and ram well

- Start from top and proceed downward
- Make surface level with wooden straight edges
