Chapter 3
Methodology
This part presents the method used in this study. This includes the following:
Research Design, Research Respondents, Research Instruments, Gathering Data
Procedure, and Data Analysis.
Research Design
The qualitative method was used in this study to determine the impact of
non-registered business establishments on the socio-economic status of the
different community sectors in Siniloan, Laguna. Further, a phenomenological
approach will be utilized in describing the live experiences of the students in terms
of academic endeavor, peer pressure, family aspect and financial aspect of Senior
High School students in Golden Valley National High School. This research work
involves gathering of data in order to get the necessary data or answer questions
pertaining to the current issue of the research problem.
Research Respondents
The respondents of this study involve 103 Senior High School students in
Golden Valley National High School in Golden Valley, Mabini, Davao de Oro. This
study will use of sampling technique that involves students who are enrolled in
Senior High School Department with the description of their experience in stress.
The respondents involved 33 students from Grade 12- Gold, 37 students from
Grade 11-Hope and 33 students from Grade 11-Patience that complete the
computed number of respondents.
Research Instrument
This study will utilize a semi-structured questionnaire. This questionnaire will
be made by the researchers in this study.
The key informants namely the Grade 8 selected students were interviewed
through a face to face and audio recorded interview. The interview questions (see

Appendix A, B and C) were aimed at gaining relevant information concerning the
experience of the participants about the (insert the problem here)
Questions relating to; (insert the general idea of each of your questions);
were asked during the interview.
The questionnaires were administered directly to the chosen sample for the
study. There are (how many copies of questionnaire to be distribute in each
participant?). After the completion of the answer questionnaires the audio recorded
interview was transcribed by the researchers. The researchers used patterns of
code to analyze the data.
Data Gathering Procedure
In gathering data for this study, the researches will follow the following
procedure:
The researchers will send a letter to the Golden Valley National High School
principal office, advisers, subject teacher and parents of the respondents
requesting for the permission and recommendation to conduct this study among
the Senior High School students of Golden Valley National High School. In
administering the tests, the researchers will present to the subject teacher,
apportioned on the time the test will be administered, and respondents the letter of
approval from the school- in charge. Upon approval, the researchers will
personally distribute and administer the tests. Also, they will ask for the written
outputs and will collect them with the guarantee of secrecy and for academic
purposes only. Then, the data will be collected, tallied, tabulated and interpreted
confidentially and accordingly.
Data Analysis
In analyzing a qualitative data in this study, the researcher used thematic
analysis by identifying and interpreting patterns or themes within a dataset, aims to

uncover insights and meanings. This process of analyzing and interpreting data
involves a systematic process of reading, coding, and synthesizing data to reveal
recurring ideas and concepts.
