The Solar System

The Solar System is a group of celestial objects that orbit our star, the Sun. It includes eight major

planets, their moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets.

The planets in order from the Sun are:

1. Mercury

2. Venus

3. Earth

4. Mars

5. Jupiter

6. Saturn

7. Uranus

8. Neptune

The four inner planets (Mercury to Mars) are rocky. The outer planets (Jupiter to Neptune) are gas

giants, except Neptune and Uranus which are ice giants. The Solar System also includes the

asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune.

Earth is the only planet known to support life.

Interesting Fact: Jupiter is the largest planet and has over 90 moons!
