Ravi observed a sunflower field near his house and noticed several bees
buzzing around the flowers. His teacher had explained the importance of
pollination during a class, so he decided to investigate further. He learned that
pollination is the process by which pollen from the male part (anther) of the
38. flower is transferred to the female part (stigma) of the same flower or another
flower. In the sunflower field, the bees were helping in cross-pollination,
ensuring that the flowers would produce seeds. Ravi also noticed that the
wind was carrying pollen from the nearby cornfield, showing that wind could
be another agent of pollination.
(I) What type of pollination was occurring with the help of bees in the
sunflower field?
a) Self-pollination
b) Cross-pollination
c) Wind pollination 1
d) Water pollination
(II) Which part of the flower receives the pollen during pollination?
a) Ovary
b) Sepal
c) Stigma
d) Anther
(III) Cross-pollination can increase the genetic diversity in plants because 1
a) It involves pollination between flowers of the same plant.
b) It involves pollination between flowers of different plants.
c) It only uses wind for pollination.
d) It reduces the chances of seed formation.
1
(IV) In the case of wind pollination observed in the cornfield, what is the role of
wind?
a) To attract insects
b) To transfer pollen from one flower to another
c) To help in seed dispersal
d) To assist in the growth of new plants 1

(I) A cyclist travels different distances in different hours. A term describes

such motion is
a) Uniform motion
b) Non-uniform motion
c) Constant speed
d) Steady motion 1
(II) The total time taken by the cyclist for the trip is 3 hours. The average
speed is found by dividing the total distance by total time. Choose the correct
average speed:
a) 20 km/h
b) 25 km/h
c) 15 km/h
d) 18 km/h

(III) The speed of the cyclist decreases in the second hour compared to the
first hour. Identify the reason for this observation:
a) The road was uphill
b) The cyclist got tired
c) The wind was against the cyclist
d) All of the above

(IV) If the cyclist maintained a uniform speed of 20 km/h for all 3 hours,
1

b) 50 km
c) 60 km
d) 70 km
