INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS SBA
There is a Pre-Lab tasks to be completed before the day of each SBA which includes the following:
At home
Note: Each lab will begin after a graph page therefore number all the pages between the graph page of the last
SBA and the next graph page. These are the pages we will use for each SBA.
1. Update the relevant pages of your Lab books with the following information about the SBA
a. Date and Lab number
b. Topic
c. Title
d. Aim
e. Apparatus
f. Title the diagram of the experimental set up
g. Draw a diagram of the experimental set up
h. Procedure (in past tense passive voice)
i. Title your Results Table (If not sure use a pencil for the title)
j. Construct a Table to hold your results (table should be drawn with a pencil and fully enclosed on all
sides) e.g.
k. If the experiment involves plotting a graph, the go to the graph page and do the following:
i. write down the title of your graph
ii. label your axes with units
2. Read about the experiment in your physics textbook or on the internet and come prepared for your
discussion.
On the day of the Lab (In school)
3. Perform the experiment quickly and update your results table with values from the experiment (contents of
the table must be in pen)
4. If a graph is required:
a. Select a scale
b. Plot your graph
c. Draw your line of best fit
d. Calculate your slope
e. Compare your experimental value with the actual value (if required)
5. Write a discussion and state the following:
a. A limitation you faced
b. A possible source of error when conducting the experiment
c. A Precaution you took
d. Draw a conclusion about your results related to your aim.
At the end of each lab
6. The Content page must be updated with the following information:
a. Lab number
b. Page number
c. Title of the experiment
SUBMIT YOUR LAB BOOKS FOR ASSESSMENT.
PLEASE BE AWARE! ALL LAB BOOKS WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE END OF THE PERIOD.
