1. Greetings
Good morning, teacher!
Good morning, class!
How are you this morning! I hope
that you are all fine because We are all good teacher!
today, we will have an exciting
lesson.
By the way, my name is teacher
Rothessa or you can call me
teacher Ysa. Before anything else
let’s read first our Learning
Objectives for today.
(enhance learners’
literacy by reading (Reading the objectives)
objectives)
2. Prayer
Loving God.
Before we start, I want everybody
Please be with us as we start our
to stand and be in silent for our
day. Make this day joyful and bless,
prayer.
Helps us to focus our mind,
understand the lessons presented,
and retain the knowledge we’ll gain.
Shelter us in your glory.
In Jesus name, our Savior
Amen.
3. Energizer
Alright, before we formally begin,
let’s have a brain teaser first. It’s
called “Say the color not the
words”
(Integrated with ART All you need to do is to say the
subject by using colors) color not the word. For example,
the word RED is written in a blue
ink. So, you only say “blue”
Examples:
RED = Blue Yes, teacher Rothessa!
Are we clear class?
Let’s start class!

Well done, class! Because of your
lively participation give yourselves
a “GOOD JOB CLAP” it’s like this
G-OO-D, G-OO-D
Good job, good job!
Let’s do it together class! G-OO-D, G-OO-D
G-OO-D, G-OO-D Good job, good job!
Good job, good job!
Very good class! Before you take
your seat, please pick up the
pieces of paper under your chair
and make yourselves
comfortable!
Yes teacher! We are all present.
4. Checking of attendance
Is everyone present today?
Great! Everyone is present today.
5. Classroom Rules
Now, let’s have our classroom
( Reading the Classroom Rules)
rules:
First, be respectful to everyone.
Second, actively participate in
class discussions and activities.
Third, raise your hand if you want
to answer.
Fourth, listen attentively when the
teacher or other students are
speaking and
Lastly, be prepared for the class.
- Yes, Teacher Rothessa.
Is everything clear?
6. Reviewing previous lesson
Now, let’s have a review on your (answering the question)
lesson yesterday. What was your
lesson yesterday class?
(everyone is raising their hands)
Very good class! Who among you
here would like to play a game?
(Experiential and B. Motivation
interactive approach)
Now, we will have a group
(enhance learners’ activity. I want you to count from
numeracy by counting numbers 1 to 4.
numbers for groupings)
I’ll give you 1 minute to go to your
respective groups.
Our activity for today is called
“Guess Me”. I have here jumbled
letters which each group are
going to arrange to create the
word that are being asked.
Each group should have one
representative to get your
jumbled letters here in front.
If you can guess the word
correctly, you can get 10 points!
The first group who can get the
correct answer will have
additional 5points, the second
group will have 4 points, third
group will have 3 points, and the
last group will have additional 2
points. Yes, teacher Rothessa!
Are we all clear?
I’ll give you five minutes to do the
activity. Your time starts now!
(Checking the answer) Igneous, teacher!
Yes group 3?
Very good group 3 you got the
additional 5points. Hurry up
students to get the 2nd highest
additional points. It’s weathering, teacher!
Yes group 1 what word do you
have there?
Correct! Group 1 plus 4 Sedimentary teacher!
Next, we have group 2, what
word do you have there?
Very good, group 2 plus 3 points Metamorphic teacher!
Last but not the least, yes group
4? What word do you have there?
Correct, group 4 got the
additional 2 points
Very good, class! That was great!
Give yourselves a round of
applause.
C. Lesson Proper
(Direct Approach) - I think they are all about rocks
1. Activity (Presentation) teacher.
So, based on what we did, what
have you noticed about the words
that we used in our game?
Yes, excellent! So, based on our -Rocks teacher!
activity, can you guess what
would be our possible topic for
today class?
Very good! Our topic is connected
to rocks and our topic for today is
“How rocks turn into soil” or this is
what we called “Weathering”
But before anything else, let’s
unlock some lesson vocabulary.
Unlocking of Difficulties:
weathering – process of that
break down rocks into smaller
pieces.
erosion- a process in which soil,
stone, etc. is gradually damaged
and removed by the waves, rain,
or wind, or the result of this action
oxidation - the breakdown of
rock by oxygen and water. Yes, teacher!
Are you ready to learn class?
Very good! Please listen carefully
class because I will be asking
you some questions later on.
I will let you watch a video on how ( Students are watching the video)
rocks turn into soil.
2. Analysis (Compare &
Contrast)
Have you ever wondered where
the soil comes from? If you do,
you will find out in this lesson how
rocks could become a soil.
Now, let us know first what are
the different types of rocks.
Types of Rocks
There are three types of rocks:
Igneous Rocks
Sedimentary Rocks
Metamorphic Rocks
Igneous Rock
- are “fire-born,” it is formed
through the cooling and
solidification of magma or lava.
Sedimentary Rock
-are formed from pre-existing
rocks or pieces of once-living
organisms. They form from
deposits that accumulate on the
Earth's surface. Sedimentary
rocks often have distinctive
layering or bedding.
Metamorphic Rocks
Metamorphic rocks arise from the
transformation of existing rock to
new types of rock in a process
called metamorphism.
Metamorphic rocks form when
rocks are subjected to high heat,
high pressure, hot mineral-rich
fluids or, more commonly, some
combination of these factors.
And now, let us learn the process
of how rocks turn into soil.
Rocks are hard, compact and
solid. They continuously break
into small pieces. This process is
called _________?
Do you have any idea of what’s
the process called?
The process is called…
Weathering
refers to the process of breaking
rocks into smaller pieces. It is an
important process that helps
shape the Earth’s surface. The
breaking of rocks results in the
formation of soil and different
landforms. This is also the reason
why we have amazing rock
formations.
Weathering can be mechanical
or physical, chemical and
biological weathering.
Types of Weathering
1. Physical or Mechanical
Weathering – rocks are
weathered mechanically by water
and temperature. Rocks exposed
to the intense heat of the sun
crack and crumble when rain falls
and soaks into the ground without
any change in the chemical
nature of the rocks.
Example:
2. Chemical Weathering –
breaks down rocks by changing
its chemical composition.
Example of this is when certain
elements react with oxygen in the
process called oxidation. Rocks
become oxides and their
properties change.
Example:
Stalactites and Stalagmites
3. Biological Weathering - is the
weakening and subsequent
disintegration of rock by plants,
animals and microbes. Growing
plant roots can exert stress or
pressure on rock.
Example:
Weathering is important because I
Agents of Weathering think it creates soil and landforms.
(develop critical and
creative thinking) The different agents of
weathering include water, wind
temperature, plants, animals,
and people. It causes rocks to
break into pieces and sometimes
can also cause soil erosion.
Why do you think weathering is
important class?
Excellent! Let’s see if your
answer is your answer is correct.
Very good, class!
Always remember that
weathering is a very important
process because it breaks down
rocks and minerals, which helps
to create soil.
None, so far teacher!
Soil is necessary for the growth
of plants, which provide food and
oxygen for animals and humans.
Healthy soil is full of life, retains
water, and supports nutrient-rich
plants.
Is everything clear class? Do you
have questions? Any
(Indirect Approach) clarifications?

mechanical weathering.
Afterwards, one representative
will discuss it in front. This will
perform tomorrow.
