Practical Tasks
Task 1: Create a Test Folder & Files
1. Create C:\zeenat\ and add 3 sample files.
Task 2: Configure File History
1. Connect external USB drive.
2. Settings → Update & Security → Backup → Add a drive → select USB.
3. Turn on Automatically back up my files (File History).
4. Configure More options → Back up now.
5. Confirm backup contains your test files (File History → Restore files from a current
backup).
Task 3: Delete & Restore
1. Delete one test file from zeenat.
2. Open Restore files from a current backup → navigate and restore the deleted file to
original location.
3. Confirm restored file opens.
Task 4: Create Encrypted Archive
1. Install 7-Zip (or use built-in compressed folder + third-party password, but 7-Zip AES256
is preferred).
2. Right-click test folder → 7-Zip → Add to archive → choose Archive format: 7z,
Encryption: AES-256, set password.
3. Try to open archive without password — fails; then open with password → success.

Decryption:
In this lab, decryption occurs when:
An encrypted 7-Zip (.7z) archive is opened
The user enters the correct password
7-Zip decrypts the data using AES-256
The original files become accessible
Task 5: Short Report & Restore Plan
Backup Policy:
Backups are stored on an external USB drive using Windows File History.
Automatic incremental backups run daily to protect user data.
The system user is responsible for monitoring backups and performing restores..
