Cleaning
Keep It Clean!
Why?
1. We want Mushrooms!
- Select for mushrooms vs other organisms
2. High humidity environment
- Other organisms thrive in same conditions
High Risk Areas
1. Mixing & Inoculation Room
2. Fruiting Room
3. Compost/Spent Bag Area
How To Clean
1. Remove all organic debris/material
2. Wipe or spray with:
- 10% bleach solution or
- 70-90% alcohol (rubbing, isopropyl, or ethyl)
Cleaning Routines & Habits
Daily (or when needed)
• Clean mixing & inoculation room after use
• Wear shoe covers in fruiting room
• Pick mushrooms before spore drop
• Remove debris from fruiting room floor
• Compost old substrate immediately

Weekly
• Remove debris from fruiting room floor
• Wipe or mop floor with 10% bleach solution or
alcohol
• Make sure all spent substrate has been composted

Monthly (Deep Clean)
• Remove all bags/blocks from fruiting room
• Remove debris from fruiting room floor
• Wipe shelves, walls & floor with 10% bleach
solution or alcohol
• Brush & mop floor in incubation room
