Terminology
mr: magic ring
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
inc: single crochet increase (2 sc in 1 st)
dec: single crochet decrease (sc 2 sts together)
flo: front loops only
blo: back loops only
(#): number of stitches at the end of the round
FO: finish off
Squid
R1: 4sc in a mr (4)
R2: (sc, inc) x2 (6)
R3: sc6 x6 (6)
R4: inc x6 (12)
R5: sc12 (12)
R6: sc12 (12)
R7: sc12 (12)
Sew Button in R5
R8: (4sc, dec) x2 (10)
R9: sc10 (10)
Stuff
R10: BLO dec x5 (5)
I like to add stitch markers to the FLO of R9 as I
decrease so I can see them better when doing the
tentacles, there should be 10 in total
FO, sew hole closed
Tentacles
attach yarn into a FLO stitch of R9 in the squid
(Ch8, turn, sc7 back down chain, sl st into next st, sl st
into next st) repeat everything within brackets()

You should finish with 5 tentacles in total, FO

Ears (make 2)
ch3, turn sc2, turn (do not ch1), dec, ch1 , cut
Sew between rows 2-4, FO
