Inventions
Learning objective:
• Understand how inventions have changed the way we live and work.
• Explore and identify interesting inventions used in everyday life.
• Apply our ideas to design and explain a new invention that solves
a problem.
Success Criteria:
• I can explain what an invention is in my own words.
• I can share examples of inventions that help us in daily life.
• I can tell how an invention makes our life easier or better.
• I can identify a problem that people face and design an invention to solve it.
What is an Invention?
An invention is something that someone creates or makes for the first time in order to solve a problem
or to make life easier. Inventions are man made.
Some inventions keep people safe.
Some inventions help solve problems.
What problem does a refrigerator solve?
What problem does a pencil solve?
What problem does a car solve?
Some inventions add joy and entertainment
to our lives by helping us play, relax, cook
and enjoy delicious food.
Who is an Inventor?
People who create new things are called inventors.
People have been making new things for many, many years.
Anyone, anywhere, at any age can be an inventor.
You can be one too! Did you Know?

years ago!
Don’t give up!
• Inventors observe, note down
what works, change
• They plan, and try again and again
to make their invention better.
• Mistakes help them learn and
improve.

🚀 From Inventions to Innovation!
🌟 There are many, many inventions around us- People have been inventing new things for a very long
time.
🔧 Over time, inventions are improved again and again-These improvements are called innovations.
🚘 Because of innovation, cars have become smarter-Today, we even have self-driving cars that can
drive on their own!
Innovation helps us reach new heights and create amazing inventions.
Self Driving Cars
️ When did people start testing them?
People started testing self-driving cars a long time ago, in the 1920s. These early cars were
experiments and needed a lot of help.
🚗 When was the first real self-driving car made?
The first true self-driving cars were made in the 1980s. Scientists and engineers used computers
and sensors to help cars move by themselves.
Who tested modern self-driving cars?
In the 2000s, companies like Google started testing smart self-driving cars.
Today, companies like Tesla are still improving them.
⭐ Why are self-driving cars important?
They can make travel safer. They help people travel easily. They show how inventions grow
through innovation.
