I get the freedom to choose my topic based on working with primary sources, which means

I can pick something that is truly interesting to me. I decided to use the movie Marty
Supreme, which I watched recently and my favorite anime Naruto as my primary source.
They're both similar in a sense that both main characters have a dream and will stop at
nothing to achieve these dreams. Even though it seems like the whole universe is against
them, they still find a way to push through. And ever since I was a child this has been so
inspiring to me.

The reason I take interest in these types of stories is because they show character
development through struggle. I think the biggest difference I noticed between both
characters, even though they're both very similar, is the fact that Naruto always stands for
what is right and sometimes can be consumed with self-doubt. Needing the people closest
to him or sometimes himself to drag himself out of this emotional state. Whereas Marty
Mauser; the main character of Marty Supreme, is morally questionable. Maybe even
narcissistic as he will do just about anything to achieve his goal. Both these characters are
so similar yet so different. This contrast between them will make writing about this topic
very interesting and I'm heavily looking forward to it.

Visual or audiovisual material is my main interest; this includes movies, episodes of


anime, and certain scenes where character development can be found. By selecting these
types of primary sources, I can analyze stories that are in line with my values but also fulfill
the requirements of the course.

Note for Ms. Guidry: I spoke to you in one of the conference rooms about this assignment
as I had questions I needed answered before submitting it. You told me to leave this note
here once I finished for you to not consider it late work. Thank you!
