Queuing System Simulation

The document describes a simulation of a single-channel queuing system at a grocery store with random customer arrivals and service times. It outlines the probabilities of customer wait times, server idle times, and average service times based on random number assignments for inter-arrival and service times. Additionally, it provides a table summarizing the inter-arrival and service times for ten customers.

Simulation of Queuing Systems (Single-

Channel Queue)

Example
A grocery store has one checkout counter. Customer arrives at this counter
at random from 1 to 8 minutes apart and each interarrival time has the
same probability of occurrence. The service time vary from 1 to 6 minutes,
with probability given below:

Services

0.1 0.2 0.3 0.2 0.1 0.0

Simulate the arrival of 10 customers and calculate:

a) Probability that a customer has to wait

b) Probability of a server being idle c) Average service time
Use the following sequence of random numbers:

Random

Customer arrives at this counter at random from 1 to 8 minutes apart and

each interval time has the same probability of occurrence. So, Probability
