Q1. Find the Fourier Series Coefficients for each of the following signals. Also draw magnitude
and phase spectrum:
(a) 𝑥(𝑡) = 3 cos 𝑡 +

(b) 𝑥(𝑡) = 1 + sin(𝜔 𝑡) + 2 cos(𝜔 𝑡) + cos 2𝜔 𝑡 +

(c) 𝑥(𝑡) = 2 sin(2𝜋𝑡 − 3) + sin(6𝜋𝑡)

Q2. A continuous-time periodic signal 𝑥(𝑡) is real valued and has a fundamental period 𝑇 = 8.
The non-zero Fourier series coefficients for 𝑥(𝑡) are:
𝑎 = 𝑎 = 2, 𝑎 = 𝑎∗ = 4𝑗,
Express 𝑥(𝑡) in the form

𝑥(𝑡) = 𝐴 cos (𝜔 𝑡 + ∅ )

Q3. Find the trigonometric Fourier series and the exponential Fourier series for the periodic
signals shown in Fig.1.

Q5. Let 𝑥 (𝑡) be a continuous-time periodic signal with fundamental frequency 𝜔 and Fourier
coefficients 𝑎 . Given that
𝑥 (𝑡) = 𝑥 (1 − 𝑡) + 𝑥 (𝑡 − 1)
(a) Find out the relation between the fundamental frequency 𝜔 of 𝑥 (𝑡) and 𝜔
(b) Find out the relation between the fundamental frequency 𝑏 of 𝑥 (𝑡) and the co-
efficients 𝑎

Q6. Suppose we are given the following information about a signal 𝑥(𝑡) :
1. x(t) is real and odd.
2. x(t) is periodic with period T = 2 and has Fourier coefficients 𝑎 .
3. 𝑎 = 0 for |k| > 1.
4. ∫ |𝑥(𝑡)| 𝑑𝑡 = 1
Specify two different signals that specify these conditions.

Q7. Use the Fourier series analysis equation, calculate the coefficients 𝑎 for the continuous-
time periodic signal with fundamental frequency 𝜔 = 𝜋
