Don Bosco School, Liluah

Rector's & Parents' Day Annual Function

EMCEE SCRIPT (Expanded Version)

Opening Scene – Welcome Speech

Emcees: A & B

A: There are certain evenings that arrive not merely on the calendar, but in the heart. They
come like quiet heralds, carrying with them the gentle certainty that something meaningful is
about to unfold. Tonight is such an evening, where every face in this hall—students, parents,
teachers, dignitaries—represents not just attendance, but participation in a larger story. A
story of learning, of guidance, of dedication, and above all, of enduring human spirit.

B: Indeed. Institutions, like this great school, are not built of bricks and mortar alone. They
are constructed of discipline, of care, of long hours, of patient guidance, of small gestures
whose significance we often only realize in retrospect. And yet, here we are, standing in the
midst of a hall filled with the evidence of those unseen labours: the confidence of students,
the quiet satisfaction of teachers, the pride of parents who have placed their trust in an
institution committed to shaping lives with purpose and integrity.
A: Tonight is a celebration of that journey. A journey marked not by mere results, but by the
effort that brings those results into existence. A journey that encompasses joy and challenge,
curiosity and reflection, failure and triumph, often in equal measure. And it is our privilege,
as emcees, to guide you through the unfolding of this evening—an evening that reminds us
why we honour education, respect guidance, and cherish community.
B: So we welcome you warmly, sincerely, and with profound gratitude to this Rector's &
Parents' Day celebration at Don Bosco School, Liluah. May the moments we are about to
share serve as both a recognition of accomplishment and an inspiration to continue striving
toward the ideals that make education not merely a pursuit, but a calling.

Lighting of the Lamp

Emcees: C & D

C: Throughout history, humankind has sought symbols to convey hope, guidance, and
enlightenment. The lamp, with its modest flame, has endured where the most sophisticated
machines have faltered. Its light does not shout; it does not demand attention. It simply
shines, unwavering and steadfast, offering clarity in darkness and purpose in uncertainty.
D: To light a lamp is to acknowledge the presence of wisdom—both that which we have
acquired and that which we have yet to discover. It is a simple gesture, yet profound in its
implication: that knowledge is not merely possession, but illumination, and that education is
not simply instruction, but the awakening of understanding.

C: In that spirit, we now invite our Rector, esteemed fathers, and distinguished guests to
come forward and perform the Lighting of the Lamp, marking the formal commencement of
this evening’s programme. Each flame lit tonight symbolizes the bright path of learning,
virtue, and guidance that Don Bosco School seeks to illuminate in every student who passes
through its halls.

D: May this lamp remind us all, parents and children alike, that even the smallest light can
guide a journey, and that it is our duty to nurture the flames of curiosity, integrity, and
wisdom wherever we find them.

Welcoming of the Chief Guest & Dignitaries

Emcees: E & F

E: There are moments in life when presence alone speaks volumes. Tonight, we are honoured
to be in the company of individuals whose lives exemplify leadership, integrity, and vision.
Their achievements, often accomplished with humility and perseverance, inspire not only our
students, but all who seek to make meaningful contributions to society.

F: Indeed. To welcome such distinguished guests is more than a ceremonial courtesy. It is an

acknowledgment that we are part of a broader community—one in which guidance and
example are as valuable as instruction. Our Chief Guest and respected dignitaries have
chosen to spend their evening with us, and in doing so, have affirmed the importance of
education, mentorship, and the values that shape not just minds, but character.

E: On behalf of the Don Bosco family, we extend our warmest welcome to our Chief Guest
and all dignitaries present. Your presence honours us, inspires us, and reminds us that the
pursuit of excellence is never solitary, but shared through guidance, example, and unwavering
support.

F: May this evening serve not only as a celebration of achievement, but also as a reflection of
the principles we hold dear: diligence, integrity, and the quiet perseverance that transforms
effort into accomplishment.

Welcome Song

Emcees: G & H

G: Music has a unique capacity: it reaches where words falter, touches where logic cannot,
and expresses what the heart instinctively feels. Tonight, the opening notes will speak a
language universal in its warmth and sincerity. They remind us that celebration is not only a
recognition of achievement but also an embrace of human spirit.
H: Our students have poured their energy, focus, and emotion into this performance. Every
note is a testament to their discipline; every harmony, a reflection of collaboration; every
pause, a tribute to attentive practice and patience. This is not merely a song; it is a gift—
offered with humility, joy, and devotion.
G: We present the Welcome Song, an expression of gratitude to this gathering, a musical
bridge connecting past efforts with present celebration, and a gentle prelude to the wonders
that this evening promises to unfold.

H: May the melodies that follow lift hearts, inspire minds, and prepare us to fully engage in
the celebration of talent, learning, and community.

English Play

Emcees: A & B
A: Theatre is among the rarest of educational tools: it teaches while entertaining, mirrors life
while shaping perception, and allows the imagination to flourish in ways that logic alone
cannot achieve. In every gesture, line, and expression, students explore facets of themselves
and society that often remain hidden.

B: The English Play before you is the culmination of meticulous preparation, creativity, and
courage. Each performer has confronted stage fright, memorized lines, and synchronized
movements—not merely for applause, but for the deeper satisfaction that comes from
bringing a story to life with integrity and passion.

A: Tonight, the play embodies the essence of education itself: discipline coupled with
creativity, knowledge paired with expression, and effort harmonized with reflection. It is a
mirror of human endeavour, a canvas for imagination, and a testament to the power of
collaboration.

B: We invite you to immerse yourselves in the English Play, to appreciate the layers of
meaning, the moments of levity, and the glimpses of truth that only theatre can reveal.

Western Dance

Emcees: C & D
C: Dance is the eloquence of the body, a language that requires neither translation nor
explanation. Through rhythm, posture, and movement, it communicates universal truths: joy,
determination, courage, and the beauty of harmony.

D: Our students have devoted themselves to mastering these truths through countless hours of
practice, balancing precision with expression, and coordination with artistry. Tonight, they
present a Western Dance that captures the exuberance and energy of youth, tempered by
discipline and attention to detail.
C: Let this performance remind us that talent is nurtured, creativity is guided, and excellence
is the result of persistent, deliberate effort. The audience is invited to witness not merely
dance, but the culmination of dedication made visible.

D: May the rhythm and movement ignite inspiration and admiration in equal measure.

Principal's Report

Emcees: E & F

F: Each year leaves a record of its passage—visible in milestones, accomplishments, and the
quiet moments of steady progress that often go unnoticed. The Principal’s Report
encapsulates this record, providing insight into the life of the institution and the fruits of
collective effort.

E: It is more than statistics or lists; it is a narrative of aspiration, discipline, and the relentless
pursuit of excellence. It reminds us that education is as much about character formation as it
is about academic achievement, and that every success, however modest, is the result of
deliberate care and sustained effort.

F: We invite our Principal to present the Annual Report of Don Bosco School, Liluah. May it
instill pride, reflection, and renewed determination in all who hear it.

School Band – “Melodious Melodies”

Emcees: G & H

H: Music is the truest form of discipline meeting freedom. A school band demonstrates not
merely technical proficiency, but the ability to cooperate, to listen, and to create unity from
diversity. Every note is an exercise in patience; every ensemble, a demonstration of harmony.

G: Tonight, our students present the School Band, performing “Melodious Melodies.” This
performance is the result of countless hours of training, attentive rehearsal, and shared
dedication. It is a manifestation of the quiet diligence that defines our institution.

H: May the music that follows lift spirits, bring calm, and leave an imprint of excellence,
reminding us all that harmony is both an art and a practice.

Dance Drama

Emcees: A & B
A: Some stories demand to be lived rather than merely told. The Dance Drama combines
narrative, music, and movement, creating a tapestry in which emotion becomes tangible, and
meaning is conveyed through the human form.
B: The students have devoted themselves to this intricate art, refining each gesture and
expression to convey depth of feeling, subtlety of interaction, and resonance of purpose. The
performance is both disciplined and expressive—a testament to the power of collaborative
artistry.
A: We invite you to watch the Dance Drama with attention and reflection, appreciating the
union of intellect and emotion, and the artistry that elevates movement into narrative.

Vote of Thanks

Emcees: C & D

C: Any gathering of this magnitude rests upon innumerable unseen efforts, each as
indispensable as the visible accomplishments. Recognition of these contributions is more than
courtesy—it is truth acknowledged.
D: We now call upon (Name of Speaker) to deliver the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude
to teachers, parents, students, and all who laboured to make this evening possible. In doing
so, we honour the essence of collaboration and shared purpose.

Christmas Carols – “It’s Christmas Once Again”

Emcees: E & F

E: Music associated with Christmas carries a timeless message: peace, joy, hope, and
generosity. It reminds us that while calendars and schedules change, the human spirit
responds to harmony, sincerity, and tradition.
F: Our choir now presents “It’s Christmas Once Again,” a musical celebration designed to
inspire reflection, warmth, and festive cheer. Through their voices, they remind us of the
enduring value of kindness and celebration.

National Anthem
Emcees: G & H

G: As our evening draws to a close, let us rise together to honour the nation that shelters our
dreams, shapes our identities, and provides the freedom to pursue excellence.
H: We invite everyone to stand for the National Anthem of India.

Both: Jai Hind.
