under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed." He believed that Jesus'
words alone could heal his servant.

4. Jesus' Amazement – Jesus was amazed at the officer’s great faith. He told the people
around Him, "I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith!"

5. The Healing – Jesus told the officer, "Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would." At
that moment, the servant was healed.

bring hope and life into our situations.

Who was Lazarus?

Lazarus was a close friend of Jesus and the brother of Mary and Martha. He lived in Bethany, a
village near Jerusalem.

What Happened?

1. Lazarus Became Sick – Lazarus fell seriously ill, and his sisters, Mary and Martha, sent a
message to Jesus, asking Him to come and heal their brother.

2. Jesus Delayed His Visit – Jesus did not go immediately but said, “This sickness will not
end in death but will bring glory to God.”

3. Lazarus Died – Before Jesus arrived, Lazarus had already died and was buried for four
days.

4. Jesus Comforted Mary and Martha – When Jesus reached Bethany, He found Mary and
Martha mourning. Martha said, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have
died.”

5. Jesus Declared He is the Resurrection and the Life – Jesus told Martha, “I am the
resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though they die.”

6. Jesus Wept – Seeing the grief of the people, Jesus was deeply moved and wept.

stone to be removed.

o He prayed to God and then called out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”

encourages us to seek God with all our hearts and be willing to give up everything for Him.

1. What is a Treasure?
A treasure is something very valuable, such as gold, money, or precious stones. People often
work hard to find treasure because it can make their lives better.

Examples of Treasures in Real Life:

• Gold and silver

• Expensive jewelry

• God’s Kingdom (the most important treasure of all)

Jesus also told another parable about a merchant looking for valuable pearls.

• He found one pearl that was very precious.

hearts because He is the most valuable treasure.

Introduction

found in Luke 16:19-31.

This parable teaches us about helping others, the dangers of selfishness, and the reality of life
after death. It reminds us that we should be kind and generous because our actions on earth
determine our future with God.

1. The Story of the Rich Man and Lazarus

Bible Reference: Luke 16:19-31

Who Were the Two Men?

1. The Rich Man o He lived in luxury, wore fine clothes, and enjoyed good food

every day.

o He did not care about poor people around him.

2. Lazarus (the Poor Man) o He was very poor and sick. o He sat outside

the rich man’s gate, begging for food.

o Dogs licked his wounds, showing he had no one to care for him.

What Happened?

1. Both Men Died o Lazarus died and was carried by angels to Abraham’s side

(Heaven).

o The rich man also died and went to a place of great suffering (Hell).

2. The Rich Man’s Suffering in Hell o The rich man was in great pain and saw Lazarus in

Heaven.

o He begged for Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool his tongue.

3. Abraham’s Response

o Abraham reminded the rich man that he had lived in luxury on earth while
Lazarus suffered.

o Now, Lazarus was comforted, and the rich man was in pain.
 o A great gap (chasm) separated them, and no one could cross from Hell to
Heaven.

4. The Rich Man’s Second Request

o He begged Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his brothers so they would not end
up in Hell.

o Abraham said, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them listen to them.”

5. The Final Lesson

o The rich man insisted that if someone from the dead appeared, his brothers
would believe.

o Abraham said, “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not
believe even if someone rises from the dead.”

Lesson: What we do on earth affects our life after death.

2. What Did the Rich Man Do Wrong?

The rich man was not condemned for being rich, but for being selfish and unkind.

What were his mistakes?

• He ignored Lazarus, even though he saw him suffering daily.

• Lazarus could not help him because the gap between Heaven and Hell could not be
crossed.

did not listen.

Lesson: We must listen to God’s Word now while we are still alive, because after death, it will
be too late to change.
