Narrative Report
We are assigned to conduct an interview with at least 10 of our neighbors
starting January 11, [Link] question is asking about their community issues that they
have in their household and life.
Here are the questions:
1. What is your name, age, gender, occupation, and household size?
2. What are the biggest challenges your family faces in meeting daily needs, such
as housing, education, healthcare, or employment?
3. Are the available community services and resources sufficient to address your
family’s needs? If not, what is missing or needs improvement?
4. What are the most significant problems or issues facing the community right
now?
5. What do you think should be prioritized to solve the community’s biggest
problems and improve the quality of life for all residents?
My first step here is finding 10 of my neighbors who are interested to join and
participate in this interview. These respondents live in Brgy. Santol, Tanza. Cavite. The
Interview material that I use in this interview is a written questionnaire so my
respondents can actually read and understand the interview and I also explain the
questions in Tagalog so they can easily relate and give an answer. The next step is
getting their answers written down on my survey form. There are some of them who
write their answers but the majority of them tell me their answer and I'm the one who
wrote down their answers. After the interview I always give a little token for their
participation or gift, in other words for giving appreciation for setting a little amount of
time to participate in my interview.
Among my 10 respondents they give me several answers but pointing and giving
some the same answers to other respondents. They are poor, have a low salary, they
are unemployed, and they don’t have any source of income to survive in everyday life,
and this answers question number two. Those answers are the common problems that
our society faces up until this generation, but for my opinion as an individual if we want
improvement and changes in our lives we should take an action or solution especially if
we have problems about housing, education, healthcare, or employment. But always
remember that if we need a helping hand we should also ask our community or
barangay officials for assistance. Why? Because they are the one who is assigned to
lead those individuals in need in their community.
Let’s move on to the next question, which is question number 3, which is: Are the
available community services and resources sufficient to address your family’s needs? If
not, what is missing or needs improvement? 5 of them answered yes and 5 answers no,
so in this part we can say that there answers are 50/50 percent. The 5 respondents that
answer no state that our barangay should prioritize the senior citizens especially when it
comes to healthcare. They also stated that our barangay should have more programs
that encourage other young people to be lead or have leadership programs to enhance
their skills at leadership.
For question number four: What are the most significant problems or issues
facing the community right now? 6 of them give answers and 4 of them answers that
they don’t know. Those 6 answers stated only one thing and it is that our community
should have medical or healthcare seminars or programs so young and senior people
can have an idea to take care of their health. And also about cleanliness, they are
suggesting that our community should have a weekly collecting trash track and a vacant
day for community cleaning service.
And Lastly for question number five: which do you think should be prioritized to
solve the community’s biggest problems and improve the quality of life for all residents?
Sme of them agree that we should prioritize healthcare programs for everyone like
nutrition seminars and free check ups. Because of this solution it can solve the many
request of the people about their health and another problem that they want to address
is having not enough supplies or relief goods for typhoon affected residents. Community
should also give an budget for this situations because this is unexpected and
unpredictable events that happens and may cause negative outcomes.
