Abstract
An Automatic Water Level Control System is an intelligent solution designed to automatically
monitor and control the water level in storage tanks. The system uses water level sensors to
detect the height of water and a control unit to operate the water pump accordingly. When the
water level drops below a predefined minimum level, the pump is switched ON automatically,
and when the maximum level is reached, the pump is switched OFF. This system prevents
water overflow, reduces water wastage, protects the pump from dry running, and ensures
efficient water management. It is widely used in residential buildings, industrial plants, and
agricultural irrigation systems.
Introduction
Water management is a critical issue in modern society due to increasing water demand and
limited water resources. Water tanks are commonly used to store water for domestic, industrial,
and agricultural purposes. In traditional systems, water pumps are operated manually, which
often leads to overflow, unnecessary water loss, and damage to the pump due to dry running.
To overcome these problems, the Automatic Water Level Control System has been developed.
This system eliminates the need for human intervention by automatically controlling the pump
based on the water level in the tank. It improves efficiency, reduces human error, and ensures
a continuous and reliable water supply.

System Components
1. Water Tank
Used to store water for later use.
2. Water Level Sensor
Detects the level of water inside the tank (low level and high level).
3. Controller (Microcontroller or Relay Circuit)
Processes signals received from the sensor and makes control decisions.
4. Water Pump
Pumps water into the tank when activated by the controller.
5. Power Supply
Provides electrical power to the system components.
How the System Works
1. The water level sensor is installed inside the water tank at specific points.
2. When the water level falls below the minimum threshold, the sensor sends a signal to
the controller.
3. The controller activates the relay or switching circuit.
4. The water pump turns ON and starts filling the tank.
5. As the water level rises and reaches the maximum level, the sensor detects it.
6. The controller then turns the pump OFF automatically.
7. This process repeats continuously, maintaining the water level within safe limits.
Advantages
• Prevents water overflow
• Reduces water wastage
• Saves electrical energy
• Protects pump from dry running
• Requires minimal human intervention

Conclusion
The Automatic Water Level Control System is an efficient and reliable solution for water
management. By using sensors and automatic control techniques, it ensures optimal utilization
of water resources and minimizes human effort. This system is cost-effective, easy to
implement, and suitable for a wide range of applications, making it an essential component in
modern water management systems.
