Answer: The word “crumbling” is repeated so many times to lay stress that
everything that is weak, small destroy by the power of the wind.

There the poet compares people with wheat. As we winnow the wheat to
separates the grain from chaff, the wind god also separates the strong people
from the weak people. When there is a strong wind, all the things that are weak
fall and get crushed.

fires’ mean?
Answer:
This expression implies that friendship is mostly among equals. Wind who is
very strong does not behave in a friendly way with the weak. It destroys the
weak things.

Answer:
The poet advises that while facing wind, one should have a strong heart and a
strong physique. Wind is not friendly with weak characters. The weak fire is
blown out, whereas the strong fire is ignited by wind.

Answer: The poem Wind’ is an eye opener as it sheds light on reality of human
life. The poet has poured out his heart in the present poem. He says that people
must be strong at heart because only the weak at heart are troubled by
difficulties. Here, wind symbolises difficulties which have the power to
devastate life on earth. But if the people are strong at heart, they face the
challenges thrown out by difficulties. They struggle and at last, come out with
flying colours.

Answer: According to the poet, the wind is very powerful. It has the power to
break the shutters of the windows, scatter the papers and throw the books
down the shelf. When it blows violently, it brings the clouds. It mocks at the
weak and destroys their homes. The weak persons are really helpless before the
wind. But the poet is quite hopeful. He thinks that when people build strong
houses, they can challenge the wind. Actually, the poet suggests the people that
they should be strong at heart because the weak persons cannot face the
challenges of life. Only the people with a strong heart and body have the courage
to face the challenges of life.
