Advanced Driver
Assistance Systems
(ADAS)
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
(ADAS) are a set of electronic systems in
vehicles designed to assist drivers in
various driving tasks. These systems
enhance safety by reducing the likelihood
of accidents and improving the overall
driving experience. ADAS integrates
sensors, cameras, radar, and software to
monitor the vehicle's environment and
take preventive or corrective actions
when necessary.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
01. ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control)
Automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed to
maintain a safe distance from the car ahead.
It uses radar and cameras to monitor traffic
and adapts to changing speeds. Ideal for
reducing driver fatigue on highways.
02. LDW (Lane Departure Warning)
Alerts the driver when the vehicle drifts out
of its lane without signaling. Cameras
monitor lane markings, triggering warnings
to prompt corrective action. Prevents
accidents caused by distraction or
drowsiness.
03. LKA (Lane Keep Assist)
Helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane
by making minor steering adjustments.
Uses cameras to detect lane boundaries and
intervenes to prevent drifting. Ensures safer
highway driving with reduced manual
effort.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
04. TJA (Traffic Jam Assist)
Combines adaptive cruise control and lane-
keeping to manage stop-and-go traffic.
Automatically accelerates, brakes, and
steers in low-speed conditions. Eases driver
stress in urban traffic congestion.
05. HA (Highway Assist)
Provides semi-autonomous driving on
highways by integrating ACC and LKA.
Ensures smooth navigation and reduces
driver workload during long trips. Requires
minimal driver input but constant
supervision.
06. SAS (Speed Assist System)
Monitors speed limits and alerts the driver
to comply with traffic rules. Uses cameras
and GPS data to identify speed signs.
Enhances safety by preventing over-
speeding.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
07. PA (Park Assist)
Steers the vehicle into parking spaces while
the driver controls acceleration and
braking. Uses sensors to identify suitable
spaces and guide the car. Simplifies parking
in tight spots.
08. RCTA (Rear Cross-Traffic Alert)
Warns the driver of approaching vehicles or
pedestrians when reversing. Uses radar
sensors to monitor the area behind the car.
Prevents collisions in crowded or
obstructed environments.
09. AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking)
Detects potential collisions and applies
brakes automatically to avoid or mitigate
impacts. Uses radar and cameras to
monitor surroundings. Enhances safety by
reacting faster than human reflexes.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
10. APA (Automated Parking Assist)
Fully automates the parking process,
managing steering, braking, and
acceleration. Uses sensors and cameras to
park the vehicle accurately. Reduces stress
and eliminates parking errors.
11. SVM (Surround View Monitor)
Provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle's
surroundings using multiple cameras.
Enhances situational awareness during
parking and maneuvering. Helps avoid
obstacles and tight spaces.
12. FCW (Forward Collision Warning)
Warns the driver of an imminent collision
with vehicles or obstacles ahead. Uses
sensors and cameras to detect hazards in
real-time. Gives the driver time to take
preventive action.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
13. ESC (Electronic Stability Control)
Improves vehicle stability by reducing
skidding and maintaining control during
sharp turns. Automatically applies brakes
to individual wheels if the car loses traction.
Prevents rollovers and spinouts.
14. TCS (Traction Control System)
Reduces wheel slippage during acceleration
to maintain grip on slippery surfaces. Works
by controlling engine power and braking
force on individual wheels. Improves traction
and stability in adverse conditions.
15. AES (Autonomous Emergency Steering)
Steers the vehicle automatically to avoid
obstacles when braking alone isn't enough.
Uses cameras and sensors to detect threats
and calculate the safest path. Reduces
collision risk in critical situations.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
16. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)
Prevents wheel lock-up during emergency
braking for better control. Pulses the brakes
rapidly to maintain traction with the road.
Enhances safety during sudden stops on
slippery surfaces.
17. HDC (Hill Descent Control)
Maintains a controlled speed while
descending steep slopes. Uses braking and
engine control to prevent skidding or loss
of control. Ideal for off-road and hilly
terrains.
18. ALS (Adaptive Lighting System)
Adjusts headlight direction and intensity
based on steering angle and road
conditions. Enhances visibility during
nighttime and bad weather. Improves safety
by reducing blind spots.
