Para sa Activating Prior Knowledge, magsisimula ito sa isang maikling activity na

tinatawag na “Let’s Recall Fractions.”


Ang purpose ng activity na ito ay maalala ng mga bata ang dati nilang natutunan about
sa fractions at basic na operations, tulad ng addition, subtraction, multiplication, at
division. Mahalaga ito para mas madali nilang maintindihan ang bagong lesson.
Sa activity na ito, sasagutin ng mga learners ang ilang tanong tulad ng ano ang fraction,
magbigay ng halimbawa, at magsolve ng simple fraction problems. Isusulat ang mga
tanong sa board or ipapakita gamit ang flashcards para mas madali nila itong makita.
Sa pamamagitan ng activity na ito, makikita ng teacher kung alin sa mga topics ang
kabisado na ng learners at alin dito ang kailangan pang i-review. Nakaka help din ito
para mahasa ang kanilang numeracy at thinking skills.
Sa kabuuan, ang “Let’s Recall Fractions” activity ay paghahanda ng mga learners
bago pumasok sa bagong lesson upang mas madali nilang maunawaan at magamit ang
fractions at four fundamental operations sa pagsosolve ng mga routine at non-routine
problems.

Numerator: taas
Denominator: baba (note: bawal maging zero kasi ang whole ay hindi ma de-divide sa
zero parts).

3. Solve: ¼ + ¼
Solution: ¼ + ¼ = ¹ ⁺ ¹⁄₄ = ²⁄₄
Pareho ang denominator (4), so add lang ang numerator.
Then simplify:
✅ Answer: ½

A fraction is a number that shows a part of a whole.


Simple example:
If you have 1 pizza and cut it into 4 equal parts, and you take 1 part, that is ¼ 😊
So, fraction = part of something, not the whole.
Routine Problem: Can be solved by direct application of previously learned algorithms
and the basic task is to identify the operation appropriate for solving problem.
Example problems: What is the area of a 100m x 1000m car lot?
Non-Routine Problem:
The non-routine problem is a kind of unique problem solving which requires the
application of skills, concept or principle which have been learned and mastered.
It is also meant that whenever we are facing an unusual problem or situation which we
don't know the procedures to solve it, we are facing the non-routine problem.
Example: Approximately how many hairs are there on your head?
