"Hi classmates, I want to talk about something very important for all of us—HIV, or Human
Immunodeficiency Virus. Here in La Union, it’s becoming a real concern. Just this year, our Provincial
Health Office reported 70 new HIV cases. What’s alarming is that many of them are people our age—18
cases are from 15 to 24 years old. That means HIV is not just a distant issue, it’s happening right here in
our own community."

"We can all take steps to protect ourselves and those around us.

First, let’s educate ourselves. Knowing how HIV is transmitted and prevented is our strongest defense.

Second, let’s practice safe and responsible behaviors, whether it’s through safe sex or avoiding risky
actions.

Third, let’s not be afraid to get tested. HIV testing is available for free, and early detection can truly save
lives.

Finally, let’s fight stigma and discrimination. People living with HIV deserve support, respect, and dignity
—not judgment.

To make this real, think of it this way: imagine one of our friends or classmates silently dealing with this
illness. They might feel scared, ashamed, or alone. But if we build a culture of openness, care, and
understanding, they won’t have to suffer in silence. That’s how powerful our actions and words can be."
