Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

CO1 :: describe the basics of Microprocessor 8085, its internal architecture and functioning

CO2 :: familiar about the programming of 8085 microprocessor

CO3 :: distinguish the features of advanced processors and controllers

CO4 :: interpret different techniques and methods to design a program for 8051 microcontrollers

CO5 :: develop different programming methods using 8051 microcontrollers

CO6 :: analyze different interfacing modules using 8051 microcontrollers

Unit I
Overview of Microprocessors and Microcontrollers : difference between microprocessors and
microcontrollers & their applications, Von-Neumann and Harvard architectures, CISC and RISC
architectures
8085 Microprocessor : architecture of 8085, pin configuration, memory interfacing

Unit II
Programming of 8085 Microprocessor : data transfer instructions, arithmetic and logical
instructions, branching and control instructions, programming with stack and subroutines, addressing
modes, input/output ports and data transfer concepts
Unit III
8086 Microprocessor : architecture of 8086, memory organization of 8086

Evolution and Features of Microprocessors and Microcontrollers : history and evolution of


microprocessors (Intel Core i7, AMD Ryzen, Intel Pentium), features and specifications of various
microprocessors, history and evolution of microcontrollers (AVR, PIC, ARM), features and
specifications of various microcontrollers
Unit IV
8051 Microcontroller : architecture of 8051, pin configuration

Programming basics of 8051 Microcontroller : data transfer and arithmetic instructions, data
types and directives, 8051 flag bits and PSW register, 8051 register banks and stack
Unit V
8051 I/O Port programming : addressing modes, accessing memory using various addressing
modes, I/O bit manipulation programming, loop and jump instructions, call instructions and stack,
time delay calculation for various 8051 chips
Unit VI
Peripheral and Communication Interface : programming 8051 timers, 8051 counters
programming, introduction to serial communication, serial communication programming, 8051
interrupts programming, ADC and DAC interfacing
