THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
Columban College is known for the services it has provided to the people. Throughout
the years, the school itself has expanded and improved its facilities, showing its quality as the
best school in Zambales. What more can they add to feature a better campus? Additional works
that can also supply the need of students, installation of light posts in precise locations that will
illuminate its portions.
Light posts are intended to brighten certain areas. A wide-range effect a light post has is
significant in recognizing places, especially at night. Placing light posts on exterior areas of the
school is essential for the visibility and safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Statement of the Problem
Nowadays as we know the areas in which there is no light can possibly become a
dangerous place, since in a dark place, horrid things can be done because it is hard to see in a
dark, so questions like; will it be still safe for the students to be dismissed during the night? How
will the school will provide a way to lighten dark areas? Upon constructing a solution how can
the school possibly conserve energy in the proposal? so constructing a lighting lamp collaborated
with a solar panel post for the continuous improvement of Columban College, Barretto Campus
will be placed to an area in the school to be illuminated for the safety of its students and for the
conservation of the school.
General Objectives
The objective of the study is to design and provide a post to be installed with a solar
panel and a lamp, also to ensure that the post is fit to carry or withheld the said materials
overtime. The Proposed Lighting and Solar Panel Post will provide the need of a student or a
person during the night and also save electrical energy consumption of the school.
Specific Objectives
The purpose of the Proposed Lighting and Solar Panel Post are:
1. To be installed with a lamp in order to lighten a certain area of the school.
2. To be installed with a solar panel which is to reduce the consumption of electricity of the
school.
Scope and Delimitations
The study is only limited to the design and the construction of the post structure. The
structure is to serve as a post which a lighting will be installed for the purpose of the lighting
dark areas along the road to the school of the Columban College, Barretto Campus, and also the
installation of solar panel for the source of electricity of the said lighting. Due to the
unavailability of the materials, for these will be coming from a separate group of people.
Loadings for these materials are foresighted in accordance with the instruction given to the
researchers, but these assumed loadings are not without basis. The initial total loadings are given
consideration of actual sourcing from the internet and a steel handbook, thus ranging the result
came up with the final assumed loading for the design especially for the design of its footing.
The estimate of materials is also in the study for the reason that the study is to be built
and actualized in the area of the school, the list of materials and the quantity to be used in the
structure will be shown. The labor to be done for the construction is covered by the efforts to be
done by the researchers, in a sense, the focus of this study is to design and construct the
structure.
Significance of the Study
The objective of this project is for the researchers to contribute in their own way by
building a post. Post that can help illuminate some dark areas. A solar panel will be installed in
this post then will lighten certain areas and will use a solar energy that can help the school and
also can help the school in conserving energy. This project will have a tremendous impact to
what school can provide for the sake of the students and provide the safety that they all deserved.
