Software Engineering Assignment

Project Title: Smart Waste Segregation & Recycling Assistant

1. Project Scope

1.1 Goal

The Smart Waste Segregation & Recycling Assistant is a system. It helps people manage
their waste properly. The system uses AI to recognize waste and provides guidance on how
to dispose of it. The goal is to reduce landfill waste promote recycling and encourage
people to be more environmentally friendly.

The system also tracks users waste habits over time. It provides insights and suggestions
for improvement. The system includes gamification features to make waste management
fun.

1.2 Targets

The project aims to:

 Identify waste accurately using AI

 Provide instructions on how to dispose of waste

 Track waste and provide analytics

 Offer community support

 Encourage user engagement through gamification

1.3 Out of Scope

The project will not cover:

 Real-time integration with municipal waste management fleets or automated waste

collection systems.

 Industrial or large-scale waste management solutions (e.g., factories, hospitals).

 Financial transactions for recycling incentives (like payments for scrap items) in the
initial version.
