despertarse to wake up

levantarse to get up

desayunar to have breakfast

lavarse la cara/los dientes/las


manos to wash your face/teeth/hands

ducharse to have a shower

afeitarse to shave

bañarse to have a bath

peinarse to comb your hair

maquillarse to put make up on

arreglarse to get ready

vestirse to get dressed

ponerse el uniforme to put your uniform on

salir de casa to leave the house

Many verbs used to describe your daily routine are 'reflexive verbs'. Did you know that
they are called 'action' verbs? This means an action that you do to yourself. In Spanish,
infinitive reflexive verbs finish in -se (levantarse, acostarse, etc.) and are form in the
following way:
Levantarse (to get Ponerse (to put something Vestirse (to get
up) on) dressed)

Me levanto Me pongo Me visto

Te levantas Te pones Te vistes

Se levanta Se pone Se viste

Nos levantamos Nos ponemos Nos vestimos

Os levantáis Os ponéis Os vestís

Se levantan Se ponen Se visten


Me, te, se, nos, os and se are used with these verbs. They mean myself (me),
yourself (te), himself/herself (se), ourselves (nos), yourselves (os) and
themselves (se).
