Adaptations

Animal adaptation is the process through which animals adjust to their environments to enhance survival, reproduction, and thriving. Birds, for example, evolved wings during the Jurassic period through a series of changes including the development of feathers and hollow bones, allowing them to escape predators and access food. These adaptations include physical changes like lightweight skeletons and behavioral shifts such as migration for better living conditions.

What is animal Adaptation?

Animal adaptation is the process

by which animals adjust to their
environment in order to survive,
thrive, and reproduce. These
adaptations can be physical, like
thick fur for cold climates, or
behavioral, like migrating to find
food or better living conditions.
By adapting, animals increase
their chances of living
successfully in their specific
habitats.
1 Birds
When and how
they grew wings

When: The Jurassic period

How: step 1: they grew feathers- Their arms grew feathers and
regulated temp
step 2: Arms became wings- they grew wings and their feathers
became better for flapping and gliding
step 3: Hollow bones- their bones became hollow and light so it is
better for flying
Why: so they could escape from predators and regulate temperatures
2 How did it help

so they could reach certain foods and communicate.

They could also migrate to warmer areas for winter.
Finally, they could protect their nest better
3 evolutionary
changes
1. they grew feathers for
camouflage
2. they got a lightweight skeleton
for lighter and faster motion
3. they got wings to help them fly
4. they learned to walk on two
legs so they could fly better
