Last week, Lucas felt very sad because he failed a math test. He didn’t want to try again, and he
thought he wasn’t good enough. His best friend, Ana, decided to talk to him. She said, “Lucas,
you have to believe in yourself! I really care about you, and I know you can do better.

Sometimes, we fail, but that doesn’t mean we should give up. Why don’t you write about what
makes math hard for you? That way, you can see your difficulties more clearly. Also, you can
dream of becoming stronger in math. If you keep practicing, you will improve.” Lucas started to
smile. He promised to think about Ana’s words and try again.

A few days later, it was Ana’s turn to feel down. She wanted to join the school’s art contest, but
she was afraid her drawing wasn’t good enough. Now Lucas had the chance to encourage her.
He decided to write to Ana a little note: “Ana, don’t be afraid! You should talk about your ideas
and share them with others. I really care about your talent, and I know you can do it. Believe in
