1. In a group of 25 boys, nine are members of the chess club (C), eight are members of the
debating club (D) and 10 are members of neither of these clubs.
a. Draw the diagram Venn.
b. Find the probability that a randomly selected boy is:
i. A member of the chess club or the debating club
ii. A member of exactly one of these clubs.
2. A garage repaired 132 vehicles last month. The number of vehicles that required electrical
(E), mechanical (M) and bodywork (B) repairs are given in the diagram below.

Find the probability that a randomly selected vehicle required:


a. mechanical or bodywork repairs
b. no bodywork repairs
c. exactly two types of repairs.
3. Two ordinary fair dice are rolled and three events are:
A : the sum of the two numbers rolled is more than 7.
B : the difference between the two numbers rolled is 3.
C : the sum of the numbers rolled are odd.

randomly selected value is more than one standard deviation from the mean.
6. A single card is drawn randomly from a standard deck of 52 bridge cards.
a. What is the probability that the card drawn is a red card?
b. What is the probability that the card drawn is a black ace?
c. What is the probability that the card drawn is a face card (Jack, Queen, or King)?
d. What is the probability that the card drawn is a red card or an ace?
7. There are 24 cards consisting of red, blue, and yellow cards in the ratio of 3:5:4. Determine
a. The probability of randomly selecting a red card.
b. If the drawing is repeated 60 times, determine how many times a card other than red
will be drawn.
