2. The mass of air in a room 3mx5mx20m is known to be 350 kg. Find its density.

3. 100 g of water is mixed to 150 g of alcohol ( = 790 kg/m3). Calculate a) the specific
gravity (RD) of the mixture; b) the specific volume of the solution

4. A ton of marble is shipped from Marinduque, where g=9.8 m/s 2 to Baguio, where
g=9.76 m/s2. a) What is its mass in Baguio? b) What is its weight in Marinduque? In
Baguio?

5. A 45-cm cube of ice melts, the liquid water is placed in a spherical container filling it.
If the specific volume of ice at 0C is 1.094 cm3/g and of water is 1.002 cm 3/g,
determine the diameter of the spherical vessel used.

6. A two-compartment vessel contains a fluid in each section. For the first compartment
the fluid density is 1200 kg/m 3 and for the second is 500 kg/m 3. The partition is
removed and the fluids mix. Determine the density of the mixture if a) the fluid masses
are equal; b) the fluid volumes are equal.

7. It is estimated that the earth has a mean radius of 6.37x10 6m, and the air comprising
the atmosphere above it is 8.05x10 4 m high. Atmospheric air is generally composed
of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Argon with volumetric proportions of 78, 21, and 1 percent,
and densities of 1.165, 1.33 and 1.783 kg/m 3, respectively. Determine a) the density
of atmospheric air; b) its total mass.
