Chapter 3: Solution Landscapes
At the conclusion of this exercise, you will be able to:
Create a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager
Create a Business Process in the SAP Solution Manager
Creating a solution landscape and a Business Process are the essential
parts for using the Operations Part of the SAP Solution Manager.
1 In order to be able to setup a new solution, you have to define all required components first.
1-1 Call transaction SMSY and right-click on “Server” to create a new server “dummy_xx”.
Define freely the technical data. Save your settings.
1-2 Right-click on “Databases” and define a new database called Dxx, where xx stands for your
group number. Define freely the technical data. Assign the previously defined server to this
database. Save your settings.
1-3 Right-click on “Systems” and choose “create “new system with assistant”. Use the same
SID as you have used for the database. Enter “Dummy System for Group xx” in the
description field; choose “SAP ECC” as SAP Product with product version “SAP ECC 6.0”.
Continue. On the next screen choose “Relevant” next to the SAP ECC Server entry.
Continue to the next screen. Choose system number “00”, the dummy_xx server as
message server and “012000099xx” as installation number. Continue. Select “Assign
Logical Components”, specify client 100 and continue. Choose “Complete” to save your
entries.
Now we come to the next assistant who helps us to create and /or assign logical components to
our newly created system.
1-4 Type in the field “Logical Component” the new component “Z_MyComponent_xx” with the
role “Productive System” and the client 100. Choose continue and complete to save your
settings. Confirm the next screen with “Yes” to create this new logical component.
2 Create a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager called “SMO100-xx” (customer number
99999999xx) and include the logical components for training systems TT4 (SAP Solution
Manager), TT5 (SAP R/3), CRQ (CRM Server) and WMS (WMS) into the Solution Landscape.
2-1 Call Transaction DSWP and choose “Solution Overview”. Click on “new” to create a new
solution. Enter the Solution name “SMO100-xx” with the customer number 99999999xx.
Choose continue. Choose the tab “System Group” to assign the systems which you want to
assign to this solution landscape. Select the following logical components:

2-1-2 SAP ECC SAP ECC Server Z_MYCOMPONENT_xx
2-1-3 SAP R/3 R/3 Server SAP R/3 (with TT5:600)

(with TT4:200)
2-1-5 WMS ZWMS_WMS
Save your system selection
2-2 Now choose the tab “Solution Settings”. Change the monitoring refresh period to 10
minutes. Click on “Setup EWA”. Leave all checkboxes marked and confirm to activate the
EWA processing for the selected systems. Change to the tab “Contacts” and insert yourself
as contact person for this solution landscape. Save your settings.
3 In this exercise you create an own business scenario with two business processes.
3-1 Expand the Solution Directory Structure of your landscape and click on Business Scenarios.
Change to the tab “Structure” and enter the name of a new Business Scenario “My
Business Scenario xx” with the status “Production”. Save your settings.
3-2 Expand on the left side your newly created Business scenario and click on “Business
Processes”. On the tab “Structure” choose the source “Business Process Repository”.
Then use the F4 help within the field “Process Name” to choose the process. Navigate into
the organizational area “Sales” Customer Order and select the checkbox SAP R/3
4.6C. Confirm your selection, change the status to “Production” and save. On the
“Graphic” tab you can see the newly created business process
3-3 Back on the “Structure” tab enter into the second line of the field “process name” the new
name “my little process xx” with the status “Production” and save. In the navigation tree
on the left click on your newly created process. Switch to the “Structure” tab and enter the
following step names and logical components:

Save your settings and switch to the “Graphic” tab. Do a right mouse click on the first step
and choose “Create Line (Synchronously)”. Drag the yellow dot to the following step to
create an interface between these two steps. Proceed with all other steps the same way.
Than save your settings. The dialog transactions can be assigned in the “Transactions”
tab.
In the satellite system
4 Check the configuration of the new Service Data Control Center (sdccn) and create a new task to
run the EWA session.
4-1 Call transaction sdccn. Navigate into the menu Goto Settings Task specific. Check
that in the Settings of RFC destinations two entries are defined. One with the SDCC_OSS
destination, which is used to refresh sessions scheduled at SAP and one entry with the TT4
destination, specified as master, to refresh the Solution Manager scheduled sessions. Leave
the menu.
4-2 Back in sdcc choose the tab “To do” and press the create button. Choose the task
“refresh sessions” and change the scheduling to “now”. Choose the RFC destination “TT4”
to access the Solution Manager. Choose the button “run task periodically” and confirm
your task.

5 Optional Exercise:
5-1 Within the Solution Directory, where you have just created your business processes, click on
the button “Business Process Details” to access the Business Process maintenance. In
the first screen choose the checkbox “Details”, assign your own created business process
to the organizational area “Sales”, save and open the next check. Steps through all open
checks and fill out the required data as good as you can.
Please notice that you would require expert knowledge in the MM/SD module to be able to fill
out everything correctly. This optional exercise should just help you to understand what needs
to be done to completely define the business process!
