Class: Reception Home learning tasks for Week 2
Daily We have decided to include a daily task which can be done very quickly every day - this will change weekly but is
Task something that is good for everybody to keep practising. This week it is name writing. Level 1 - copy your name
Level 2 - write your name independently. Level 3 - Write your first and second name.
Home Creative task: Thinking more about our topic of ‘toys’ we wondered if you could make your own junk model car. Get
Learning saving your recycling because it will come in very handy for this task. Think about what you will need such as
Task 1 wheels, windows, a steering wheel and maybe even lights. Please decorate your car and attach a photo to Tapestry –
we cannot wait to see what you come up with.
Home Maths activity
Learning This week we are learning about money. Start by showing your child some different coins telling them the value
Task 2 e.g. 1 pence, 2 pence. See if they can sort them in to matching piles. There is a game to support this:

Next set up a toy shop and put some ‘price tags’ on the toys and see if the children can find the correct coin to
‘buy’ the toy. If your child finds this tricky just have fun discussing coins and recognising numerals – you could
even use 5 1 pence coins to buy a toy if they don’t recognise coins above that. I can imagine that your children
will make fabulous shop keepers.
There is also a game where children can count out the correct number of coins online:

There will also be a little video from Miss Fothergill about coins too which your child will enjoy watching.
Home Phonics activity
Learning This week we are going to revise the first sounds we have learnt in Phase 3 of phonics; sh, ch, th and ng. Write down the
Task 3 sounds sh, ch, th and ng on a piece of paper and get your children to copy them – see how many times they can write
them.
Level 1 - Next, look at the pictures below and see if they can identify what sounds they match (bath, path, chop, shop, sing,
chin, shell and king).
Level 2 – Write the words which match the pictures on to scraps of paper and see if your child can match them to the
picture.
Level 3 – See if you child can write the words themselves to match the pictures.
Level 4 – See if they can write a short caption/sentence about each picture.
These are good skills to practise over the whole week so a challenge can be done numerous times per week. Miss Jessop will
add a video to show you some of the skills above that the children can refer back to.
Home Physical – Can you complete the phonics yoga videos? There is a different video for each sound and they are
Learning available on Youtube if you just search for Kids Can Yoga – see the image below. We know this will help your
Task 4 children with mindfulness and relaxation whilst also learning phonics at the same time too.
