Description of the Problem:
Access to a dependable and safe water supply is essential for the residents of Mohanpur Upazila, Rajshahi, where
water shortages occur during certain seasons. This project focuses on the design of a deep tube well to ensure a
long-term and safe groundwater source for the community. The proposed system is planned to be technically
reliable, economically feasible, and compliant with both national regulations and international water quality
standards, including those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Based on the available
geological and hydraulic information, a comprehensive engineering design has been prepared. The tube well is
designed to operate efficiently for a 20-year service period, providing a sustainable water supply for the local
population.

Graduation curve of sieve analysis data:
Determine D₁₀, D₆₀ and Uniformity Coefficient
From the gradation curve
D₁₀(size corresponding to10% finer) 0.35 mm (approximately)
D₆₀(size corresponding to 60% finer) 0.78 mm (approximately)
D₆₀ 0.78
Using the formula of Uniformity Coefficient, Cu= = =2.22
D₁₀ 0.35
Size of the slot opening of a screen:
50% finer point lies between 0.71 mm and 0.60 mm
D1=0.60mm P1=35.46%
D2=0.71mm P2=51.67%
By Appling Linear Interpolation: P = 50 (we want the grain size at 50% finer)
Choose Gravel Pack Size
Since, Cu=2.22
So, P/A ratio should be between 12 and 15.5 I’ll choose a commercially available gravel pack size closest
to 8-11 mm or more accurately 9.5 mm.
Graduation curve of sieve analysis(Gravel pack):
Aquafire Selection :
From Table 1.0, Aquifer-3 (Coarse Sand) is optimal due to:
Highest permeability (35 m/day).
Excellent water quality (low contamination risk)
Sustainable yield for long-term use.
