Juan Felipe Gonzalez: Good afternoon, Teachers, today we are going to talk
about air pollution and why this issue is important for the environment.
Valeria: Before we start, I want to give a brief introduction about the topic.
Valeria: According to World Health Organization: Air pollution is contamination
of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological
agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.
Juan Felipe: After this short description let’s start with the presentation
Juan Felipe: Description: This project looks at the main causes and
consequences of air pollution, highlighting how human activities like heavy
vehicle use, industry, and waste burning have damaged the atmosphere. Using
data from official sources and local examples, it shows the direct impact this
problem has on health, ecosystems, and the global climate. The purpose of the
project is to raise awareness and promote more sustainable practices and
propose solutions to reduce pollution.
Valeria: Causes: These particles and gases can come from many sources.
These include exhaust from cars and trucks, pollution from factories, and
smoke from wildfires. It also includes ash from volcanic eruptions, dust from
deserts, sea spray, pollen, and mold spores. Air pollution can be unhealthy for
us depending on the amount and type.
Juan Felipe: consequence: Air pollution has serious consequences for human
health and the environment. This includes increased risks of respiratory and
cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and premature death. It also causes
environmental damage such as acid rain and climate change, which can harm
ecosystems, degrade habitats, and reduce biodiversity.
Valeria and Juan Felipe: Solutions The best solutions for air pollution include
transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving transportation efficiency
through public transportation and electric vehicles, and adopting sustainable
practices such as reducing consumption and planting trees
Juan Felipe: Continuing with our presentation, I'll read you a little bit of my
poem: I understand that hope begins with me, with every hand that cares for a
tree. I say,” Let us rise together, strong and wise and heal this world before it
dies
Valeria and Juan Felipe González Garcia: We, Juan Felipe Gonzalez Garcia and
Valeria Alexandra Garcia Lopez, commit ourselves responsibly and consciously
to contributing to the protection of the air we breathe. To this end, we
undertake the following actions:
Reduce unnecessary use of motorized transportation and choose to walk, bike,
or use public transportation whenever possible.
Avoid burning trash or other materials that generate smoke and toxic
substances.
Promote care for the environment in our school, family, and community
settings.
Participate in campaigns, activities, and projects that seek to reduce air
pollution.
Adopt sustainable habits that help improve air quality, such as saving energy
and recycling.
With this commitment, we reaffirm our desire to contribute to the well-being of
the planet, our community, and future generations.
