Complete Guide to Technical Analysis (Beginner to

Advanced)

Introduction

Technical analysis is the study of historical price movements to predict future market behavior. Every
concept—candlesticks, trends, support/resistance, and indicators—is built around price.

1. Candlestick Charts

Key Components:

• Body: Open to close price • Wick: Highest and lowest price • Green Candle: Price closed higher •
Red Candle: Price closed lower • OHLC: Open, High, Low, Close

2. Trend Identification

• Uptrend: Higher highs + higher lows • Downtrend: Lower highs + lower lows • Impulsive Moves:
Strong moves • Pullbacks: Temporary retracements • Trend remains valid until pullback low/high is
broken

3. Support & Resistance

• Support: Price likely to bounce up • Resistance: Price likely to fall • Used for entries, stops, and
targets • Break & Retest Strategy: Old resistance becomes support and vice versa

4. Indicators

ATR (Average True Range): Measures volatility • Helps set stop loss and targets Moving Averages: •
Define trend • Act as support/resistance • Used as trailing stop RSI: • Measures momentum • Useful
with divergence + structure

5. Candlestick Patterns

• 38.2 Candle: Strong rejection candle • Engulfing Pattern: Strong momentum shift • Close
Above/Below: Break of previous candle • Used for entries and reversals

6. Chart Patterns
• Double Bottom: Bullish reversal • Double Top: Bearish reversal • Neckline Break: Confirmation •
Entry on pullback + confirmation candle

7. Breakout Patterns

• Flag Pattern: Continuation in strong trends • Ascending Wedge: Bullish breakout • Descending
Wedge: Bearish breakout • Entry on breakout or pullback

Important Notes

• Combine multiple factors for best results • Always follow trend • Use proper risk management •
Indicators support—not replace—price action • Backtest and practice before real trading

Final Summary

Technical analysis is powerful but must be combined with risk management and trading psychology
to become consistently profitable.
