most tourists go here in Roxas City. It will also give them ideas on what are the needs
and wants of these tourists in order to provide it for them and prolong their stay here.
Statistics will also help them in decision-making, particularly on what areas they need to
focus on, develop, and enhance. Using statistics to seek answers will not just boost the
tourism of the city, but it will also improve the city economically.
2) In this scenario, there are two possible ways to effectively determine how climate change
affects rice production. First is the focus group, in which you can interview multiple
farmers to take answers from them and get conclusions based on their discussions.
Second is the observation, wherein you can observe the climate, farmers, and their
produce while using tools and equipment.
3) They can use different statistical methods to gather and observe data that are valid and
reliable for an effective decision-making. By using statistics, they are able to give
accurate conclusions and they could even diversify these conclusions to improve their
livelihood. Statistics will help these fishermen identify what factors affect the decrease in
their daily fish catch leading them to apply better solutions on their problem.
4) First, they must identify and be clear with their objective in order to have direction
throughout conducting the study. Second, they must collect the information needed to
answer the questions. They should first determine their population and sample and
choose what data collection method is suitable for their study. Third, you can organize
and summarize the information they gathered and lastly, draw conclusions from the data
you have organized and summarized.
5) In this case, the local business can conduct a survey consisting of close ended questions
to easily encode, tabulate and analyze the data they have gathered from their customers.
They can use probability sample such as simple random sampling and systematic
random sampling. On the other hand, to organize, analyze and interpret the data they
have gathered from their customers, they can use different statistical tools and equipment
or much better reach out for a statistician to provide them a valid and reliable conclusion.
6) The given scenario can use a quantitative approach to determine the quantity of the
victims of dengue. They can also use the Probability Sample and Non-probability
Sample. To analyze the collected data, they can reach out to an expert such as a
statistician to provide them with an accurate and reliable answer.
7) In this case, I think that this is a descriptive statistics since it only states that there is 15%
increase in the local tourists who visits Gigantes Island. The given statement did not give
any inference or predictions because it simple describes the data that they have gathered.
8) It is descriptive statistics because they only summarize the data they have gathered and
states that 85% of their customers prefer to use e-wallet as a mode of payment to their
purchases.
9) This case is an inferential statistics because the Capiz Provinvial Disaster Risk Reduction
Office will conduct the study to predict and make general conclusions about the chances
of a typhoon hitting the province.
10) The following explanation are given:
 Data 1 (Qualitative) – This is qualitative because it will only describe and state
what are the type of seafood in the local market.
 Data 2 (Quantitative) – This is quantitative because it seeks to identify the
quantity or amount of rice. This will use numerical data.
 Data 3 (Quantitative) – This is quantitative because this statement will use
numerical data to identify the quantity of the customers visiting the sari-sari store
daily.

11) A survey in Mambusao, Capiz, asks residents about their favorite mode of transportation
(jeepney, tricycle, or bus) is considered qualitative because its aim is to only assess and
describe the favorite mode of transportation of the residents. On the other hand, their
monthly transportation expenses in pesos is quantitative because it needs to use numerical
data to determine the amount or quantity.
12) The following explanation are given:

 Data 1 (Qualitative) – This is qualitative because it only describes the

characteristics or types of product sold in the market.
 Data 2 (Quantitative) – This is quantitative because it needs to identify the
quantity of customers they served per day.
 Data 3 (Qualitative) – This may use a number a number but it focuses on the
characteristics of how a customer is satisfied about the market and uses a number
or code to determine their satisfaction.

13) The number of water bills paid per year is discrete because you can count and identify
how many customers are paying per year. On the other hand, the total amount of water
consumed (in cubic meters) per month is continuous because it cannot be computed or
identified how much water the customers will use per month.
14) The number of earthquakes occurrences and their intensity is discrete because it can be
counted and measured by a professional in that field.
15) The Department of Health (DOH) in Capiz is keeping track of the number of COVID-19
cases per barangay is discrete because the Barangay is only a small area and the victims
can be counted. The temperature of patients admitted with fever is also discrete because
temperature of a human can now be identified and measured.
16) The following explanation are given:

 Data 1 (Nominal) – It only categorizes what type of Blood without ranking them.
 Data 2 (Ration) – Because a value of zero cannot exist here.
 Data 3 (Ordinal) – It is ordinal because they are ranking their satisfaction.

17) The following explanation are given:

 Data 1 (Age) – A value of zero cannot exist here.

 Data 2 (Nominal) – It only categorizes the different voting districts without
ranking them.
 Data 3 (Ordinal) – The statement categorizes and ranks the citizens’ preference
for mayoral candidates.
18) The following explanation are given:

 Data 1 (Nominal) – It only categorizes the employee education level without

ranking them.
 Data 2 (Ordinal) – Employee job satisfaction score is ordinal because they are
ranking their satisfaction about a certain individual.
 Data 3 (Ratio) – It counts how many years and a number of zero cannot exist
here.
 Data 4 (Ratio) – It refers to the amount of their monthly salary and a number of
zero does not exist here.

19) The following explanation are given:

 Data 1 (Primary Source of Data) – The interview is a primary source of data

because it is an actual experience of the residents and their personal opinion.
 Data 2 (Secondary Source of Data) – Reviewing historical traffic accidents is
secondary because it will be used to analyze, criticize, and giver conclusions.

20) To use indicate primary data in this case, they can interview locals and tourists about
their expectations and experiences. On the other hand, in order to indicate secondary data
in this case, they can use historical revenue records and find other trends that can help
them improve their local festivals to increase their tourism revenues.
21) In this case, it is better to use secondary sources of data in order to assess the situation
well and provide effective and efficient conclusions.
22) First, they can use the direct personal interviews to directly ask the personal response of
the interviewee and to gain more insights about their statement. Second, they can use
questionnaires to quickly and efficiently gather the answers of their respondents. Third,
they can use focus groups in order for the researcher to gather potential insights and
gather efficient data.
23) For primary data, they can use interview to gather personal opinions of the interviewee
and a survey/questionnaire to quickly and efficiently gather the answers of their
respondents. On the other hand, for secondary data, they can use the annual financial
reports from previous years and they can also use other articles and news that are related
to the consumers’ spending habits.
24) The researcher can use previous articles that are already published and is a credible
source for her study so that the researcher can gather conclusions that is helpful for her
study. It could also serve as a support to make the researchers study reliable.
25) They must choose and use the respondents that are suitable for their study to identify the
factors they need. They must also identify their population and select a sample,
particularly those who were admitted in their hospital to identify what are the most
common health issues in the province.
26) In this case, the Roxas City Business Association can determine their needed sample
using the Slovin’s formula because it provides a simple and quick method to estimate the
necessary sample size for the study.
27)
28) They can use the simple random sampling to ensure that each member of the
homebuyers has an equal chance of being selected and it can also reduced bias and it has
the ability to make generalization about a larger population.
29) They can use the Multi stage sampling because it offers cost and time efficiency in
conducting the study especially for a very large population. It allows the researcher to
breakdown the large population into smaller, manageable units for sampling.
30) Stratified Sampling will provide an equal opportunity for each group to have a selected
respondents for this study while the Cluster Sampling will only select 1 group to be the
respondents for this study.
31) Error that results from using sampling to estimate information regarding a population.
32) Error that results from using sampling to estimate information regarding a population.
This will cause inaccurate results and ineffective conclusions.
33) The questionnaire design can be a sampling error. To improve the study, the university
professor which is the professor can make the questionnaire design suitable for the study
in order to gather accurate data from the students.
