What is the main purpose of RA1425, and why is it important for students to study the
life and work of Dr. Jose Rizal?

As a first-year student, I first research about this and based on my understanding, the
Republic Act No. 1425, or the Rizal Law, mandates the study of the life, works, and writings of
Jose Rizal in all schools in the Philippines. The main purpose is to foster patriotism and
nationalism among Filipino students. By understanding Rizal's fight against oppression and his
advocacy for reforms, students can better appreciate the struggle for Philippine independence
and the values of freedom, justice, and equality. Studying Rizal's works will help us students to
develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of Philippine history and culture. It's
important because it will instill a sense of national identity and inspires students to become
responsible and engaged citizens.
