Performance Task Guide: Role-Playing Activity

Title:

Role-Playing to Demonstrate Understanding of [Topic/Concept]

Objective:

By the end of this task, students will be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of key ideas or values through a role-play.

Exhibit collaboration, creativity, and communication skills.

Apply what they have learned in a realistic or imaginative scenario.

Instructions:

Group Formation:

Form groups of 4–6 members.

Assign roles within your group (e.g., scriptwriter, director, actors, props coordinator).

Topic Assignment:

Each group will be assigned (or may choose) a topic/scenario related to the lesson.

Examples:

In English: Acting out a scene from a story or novel.

In Social Studies: Reenacting a historical event.

In Values Education: Demonstrating a moral dilemma and resolution.

Planning the Role-Play:

Discuss and agree on your storyline, characters, and main message.

Prepare a short script or outline of the dialogue and flow of scenes.

Keep the performance 3–7 minutes long.

Props and Costumes:

Use simple costumes or props that help identify your characters and setting.
Be creative but practical—use available materials.

Practice:

Rehearse several times to ensure smooth transitions, clear speech, and confident

Presentation:
