CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Chapter 5 synthesizes the key findings and understanding from previous chapters to give
a comprehensive conclusion and propose strategies for HUFLIT 3rd students when they
pursue employment at Multinational Companies. This chapter will restate the main
research objectives: to explore the benefits of high English proficiency, the challenges
students face, and potential solutions to enhance their employability in global companies.
Building on the analysis presented in previous chapters, the conclusion details the most
prominent key points and emphasizes the important role of English skills in shaping
HUFLIT students’ careers.
5.1 Conclusion
The majority of English language students at HUFLIT desire to secure employment at
Multinational Companies, where they can use their English effectively at work. The
benefits offered by these global firms, such as superior career growth opportunities and
substantial financial rewards. However, to succeed in the competitive international job
market, HUFLIT English students must overcome some challenges. The biggest of these
is the perceived gap in their English communication skills, despite their academic
proficiency. These other challenges include a lack of experience, as well as fierce
competition from other highly qualified candidates for similar opportunities at MNCs. To
enhance employability and opportunities to work at Multinational Companies, HUFLIT
3rd students need to apply strategy approaches. By overcoming language barriers and real-
work experience, HUFLIT students can reach the numerous career and financial benefits
offered by global companies. For this reason, the author has researched the benefits,
challenges, and solutions that are useful for students who want to work at international
companies.
After the general survey, this research has two important contributing help students have
a clearer perspective on the challenges they face as well as their solutions. Firstly,
through the research, the author knew that the largest number of HUFLIT students share
the scarcity that their English skills are not enough to work in international environments.
The capability to use specialized language, different cultures, and high-risk, fast-paced
business discussions in Multinational companies may have caused anxiety in even
individuals who attained a high level of English proficiency. When applied to companies,
candidates struggle to understand complex information or express themselves clearly. For
this reason, HUFLIT students need to a possible solution and the most popular solution is
to practice English speaking every. This solution is best for students because it is simple
and easy to apply daily.
Although the research has reached its aim, there are still a few limitations and
shortcomings. Firstly, the presented research was conducted in a short period. Secondly,
the number of participants is small, with only 52 students at Ho Chi Minh City University
of Foreign Languages and Information Technology. The school was chosen because the
researcher easily accessible it. Therefore, it may not represent the majority of college
students in Vietnam. Thirdly, students do not have enough time to answer objectively.
5.2 Recommendations
In the future, when the opportunity arises, the author plans to consider this topic with a
more comprehensive and reliable approach. To have an understanding of the challenges
and chances that HUFLIT students face in securing jobs at multinational companies, the
author plans to proceed with research with a large study involving 100 to 200
participants. This research will utilize a combination of both quantitative and qualitative
methods, including surveys, interviews, and case studies, to ensure a well-rounded
analysis. By gathering diverse perspectives, the researcher seeks to provide more
practical recommendations and feasible strategies for students to enhance their
employability in an increasingly competitive job market.
ABSTRACT
Vietnam is strengthening its international relations and students play an important role in
this integration process by planning to work in multinational companies. The companies
where good English proficiency is essential for career advancement and financial
benefits. The research is conducted with the importance of high English proficiency and
prospective work at multinational companies. It analyzed in-depth the benefits,
challenges, and solutions for HUFLIT students who would like to be employed. The data
of the study consisted of 52 students across all school years and departments from Ho Chi
Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT). The
study used a structured questionnaire, with a total of 20 questions to collect data. After
that, using the qualitative method to count the percentage of students taking actions
related to the profit of working in an international environment, students’ fear of
knowledge deficit, and suitable solutions for them. The findings indicated that the most
recognized benefits of strong English skills were increased job chances and high salary
potential, emphasizing that English proficiency was regarded as a tool for ensuring
profession and financial growth. The research also found that insufficient English
proficiency was the biggest challenge for HUFLIT third-year students, as many feel their
language skills were not enough for business communication, making them less
competitive in a global market. Besides, the most chosen method was practicing English
speaking every day suitable for the majority of students to improve their expertise. This
study shows the importance of English for third-year students, the barriers they face, and
the effectiveness of the methods in improving their proficiency.
